Hey, ASoG. solution : Two boxes are all ya need. You are required to place them in order on the buttons, that will open up a portable surface above the central pillar. That will let you get back up there to grab it and use it in another spot. If you look closely, you'll notice that I've used the light strips as Roman numerals to help the player see the order in which they should be placed.
That had crossed my mind while I was designing that particular room. I figured that jumping onto the edge of a pane of glass is challenging enough to reward the player with, so feel free to grab the cube that way if you prefer. What I didn't want is to have a player intentionally miss a faith plate so he could walk around at floor level and grab the cube. So I made it more difficult to do so by putting each plate up on a pedestal. In the end, all ninja tricks aside, it's still pretty darn easy to grab that cube even as originally intended. But it is nice to hear when people figure out other solutions.
