Fonts are very subjective (you'd be surprised how many arguments people have made for and against almost every font!).
That being said, it is a text-based adventure game, so graphics are inevitably going to take a back seat. It is very much like a book in that respect, I agree.
That's fairly easy to do, but I felt went against the atmosphere I wanted to create.
It's hard to imagine yourself on a distant planet in the middle of a thunder storm when you're sat next to Skype and and Mozilla Thunderbird! 8D

True. Though I'm not sure that everyone will feel the same about reading on their PC.
You also need to keep in mind that there are a lot of Tablet PCs, convertible laptops etc. on the way, so the two are not actually exclusive.
That being said, I am also in the process of creating a iPad client for this, so as you say, it may end up being be more successful in that space. However, giving people a choice of platform can only be a good thing.
A text focused adventure game, even with bells and whistles is proving to be a hard sell. :)
