To-do list
  1. Adding an end, it's really important to be honest as the end of the game is not a real end, it just shows the maze.
  2. Adding a fog of war, so you can see what you saw and go back.
  3. Allowing scaling in the options.
  4. Allowing window resizing / fullscreen in the options.
  5. Adding multiple types of ghosts, such as an invisible ghost stealing your item when you walk on him, puts it somewhere in the map randomly then hides somewhere again.
  6. Adding special items such as a torch to see further for a limited time.
  7. Adding special blocks such as ice, holes, cracked floor (a floor where you can walk on a limited times).
-> Adding the cracked floor and holes would make me add an item so you can make a bridge.
  8. Allowing the ghosts to steal the items the player is carrying.
  9. Allowing the ghosts to move the box.
  10. Adding a minimap so you know where you are.
  11. Adding a score.
  12. Locking the different characters and make then unlockable by colleting items.
  13. Maybe add available improvements for capabilities on the characters with the collected items.
  14. An achievement system, probably with Steam.
  15. Changing the deplacement system because it's so messed up.

Lost Items, find your items or be stuck !

Lost Items is a simple game in which you must find many items and put them into a box. But be careful ! You're stuck in a strange maze, it changes randomly and there are some ghosts who wants to steal the items on the ground... Fortunately, the maze changes so you can still go to every item.

You have many ways to reach your objective. Whether you can use the default character for an increased difficulty or you can also try another character to get useful powers such as infrared sights to find the box easily or even the items ! One of them allows you to jump over the walls, but you can't abuse it, you must let your character take his breath back before jumping again.

Even though the ghosts aren't dangerous for you, they can easily get very boring. When, during their walk, they find an item on the ground, they can take it and move it far away. It just depends on their mood, so be sure to take the items before they find them.

The more you carry items, the slower you are. But at some point, taking items will make ghosts disappear. There is always twice as many items as ghosts. And because they are nice, the ghosts never disappear without dropping the items they're carrying, if they are.

The different difficulties are available so you can enjoy the game in different ways. There are 7 difficulties, from the 41x24 maze to the 141x120 one. And of course, the bigger the maze, the higher the number of items is.

List of available powers :
  • The default character. She has no specific power.
  • The fast character. She walks faster and has more strength, so the items won't slow her as much as the other characters.
  • The Lynx. She sees further in the dark so she can find her path to the items and the box easily.
  • The jumper. She can jump over the walls once every 45 seconds. Of course, she can also jump over the items or over the ground, but there is no point in doing that as you can drop the items if you feel like you're too slow.
  • The ghost hunter. Despite her name, she can't kill the ghosts. She can only see them with her infrared sight. A red ghost doesn't carry anything and a green one carries an item.
  • The looter. She has an infrared sight allowing her to see the items near her.
  • The weak one. She can't do anything but finding the box when it is near her with her infrared sight.

List of difficulties :
  • Beginner : 41x24 maze, 20 items, 10 ghosts.
  • Easy : 51x36 maze, 40 items, 20 ghosts.
  • Normal : 65x40 maze, 65 items, 35 ghosts.
  • Hard : 81x56 maze, 100 items, 50 ghosts.
  • Insane : 101x70 maze, 175 items, 65 ghosts.
  • Legendary : 125x90 maze, 280 items, 80 ghosts.
  • Impossible : 141x120 maze, 420 items, 100 ghosts. Beat this mode and I give you a cookie ;)

As the game is still in development, there are probably many bugs and performances issues. If you see one of them, please tell me ! I'll do what I can to fix that as fast as I can !

Game Development Championship Jun 5, 2017 @ 2:38am
Out of 4 screenshots, why would you have 3 about your menu? Your menu isn't why people buy the game, it's the gameplay that's important!

We are running the Game Development World Championship and would like to see you participate. It's good for your visibility and won't cost you a penny.

You can check it out at .

Good luck with the development!

@DavideGendo Oh thanks for that comment !
You're right for the size of the illuminated area. It was nice in a small maze because, to be honest, I tried with bigger size but it was too easy. I changed the generation since that day and now I'm able to make a bigger maze so yeah, it would be a great idea to change that brightness, as it's very easy and it would make the game better.

As I said, the game is still in development, and yeah, I planned to do the fog of war thing. It will be really better, but I still need to think about how to make it correctly with the maze recreation, and I'm still thinking about how to make the discovering. But yeah, I'm planning to do that. Thanks for the idea of the fog of war, I thought of it in a different way but it seems way more interesting.

For the bigger thing, I guess I will allow that in a future version as an option allowing scaling.

Again, a huge thanks for your ideas, it helps me a lot.

@ZoR Dev take into account that it's not a game I'd be interested in to begin with; I think the genre is limited and limiting. However, was it for me, I'd make the illuminated area larger or rather use the "fog of war": the maze is revealed as you explore and the discovered portions stay visible on the screen (in case the maze changes, changed parts would go back in the fog). I'm afraid with such limited visibility, it'd be no fun to not even know where to go back in case you stumble in some dead end in the maze.

More importantly, I'd make everything bigger and more zoomed in. I'm under the impression that, tiny as the character is, it will take forever for it to traverse even a small maze (and if it's also slowed down by the things it carries, goodnight...)

There, I elaborated on it.

@Dionysus I'm not sure to understand what you mean by "it needs some real polishing"... can you explain please? (I'm not very fluent with english to be honest).
@Fuexline It's sad to see you do not say anything relevant, you just criticize to criticize. I'd like to understand what I could improve or change to make the game better.
@DavideGendo Even though you tell what's annoying, it would be really nice to tell me what I could change to improve that and keep the game interesting.

Not just a maze game, it looks a very annoying maze game, between the limited visibility, and the tiny characters making levels feels even bigger than they are. Downvoted.

not again a darkness simulator

Very interesting idea, looks like it needs some real polishing.
