August Dev Log
Windward is a fast-paced naval combat game set in the fantasy time period similar to the mid-17th century. It features a variety of different ships to choose from, different maps to play on by yourself or with your friends, randomly generated booty to discover, talents to earn, ships to unlock, and plenty more.

Some of the features include:
  • Variety of skirmish maps: 8-15 min duration matches with different objectives (capture the flag, grab & hold, defense, one vs all to name a few)
  • Different ships to choose from -- from maneuverable Sloop of War to a slow but powerful Frigate. More ships can be unlocked via certain achievements.
  • Experience from combat results in levels, levels result in talent points to spend in the talent trees
  • Random items drop in combat that you can use to customize your ship. Fast and maneuverable parts? Check. Huge burst damage? Check. Support and repairs? Got that too.
  • Full multiplayer support to play with your friends, or against them
  • As a fun side-feature, your ship will appear in other player's games (even single-player), so they will either praise you or curse your very name, depending on which side your ship ends up on and how uber you've made it
All of those features are already in place. Going forward, for those in search of a longer single-player and co-op experience, there will be the Campaign mode, where a huge procedural world gets generated just for you and your friends, complete with factions controlling territory that you can work with or plot against, do tasks for, discover treasure, or of course -- pillage everything in sight.

Never played Sid Meier's Pirates!, but the combat in this looks (have yet to try it out) so much like the Battleships Pro custom map for Warcraft III. That alone makes me really want to try it out.

I tried the demo/free version, and my goodness! I'd totally buy this little gem!
It's visually appealing and excellently paced. Best wishes to the developer!

So, you wont be selling the game in first early access then? Maybe best to do it that way. For I wouldnt pay and then have to wait to be honest.

Yes, everyone who bought it back when it was on sale will have Steam keys for Early Access here. In fact, the first Early Access will be only for those people as a thank you.

Any plans to provide Steam keys for those of us who have already purchased the game?

Early access -- likely sometime this summer. I still have much to do before I release it.
