UPDATE 9/8/2012
Hey everyone! We uploaded a gameplay video, updated the art style, and added some new screenshots.
Hope you enjoy them!
Our Kickstarter project will be online within 5 to 7 days.
I also forgot to mention in our original description, Star Reaction will have a puzzle-creating mode!

Hello, Internet! We are unTied Games.
We feel like big-name studios are losing their touch. Some games are too easy. Others are too linear. We still love their games, but we think we can do better! Our goal is to shatter the stereotypes of gaming by reminding you players what it's all about- by making truly fantastic games!

Let me ask you a question. The last time you played a puzzle game, did it feel like a puzzle? Did you have to think in order to play it?
"Puzzle" games these days are rarely puzzles anymore. So we here at Tiebreaker Games intend to break the mold and fix that!

What we've come up with is "Star Reaction," an innovative puzzle game that actually makes you feel like you're solving puzzles. The goal is to match four or more stars of the same color together in a certain number of moves ("par")... but that's only the beginning!

What platform is the game for?
Glad you asked. We're shooting to make Star Reaction available for Windows and Linux.
If we reach our crowdfunding goal, we'll also release on Mac OS as well as iOS and Android smartphones. Anyone can get in on the action!

What makes Star Reaction different?
The core of Star Reaction's gameplay is its reaction mechanic. When a match of four or more stars is made, each adjacent star changes color according to the ROYGBV scale of colors.
For example, if a red star is next to a star that has just been matched, it becomes orange. If it was orange, it becomes yellow, and so on!

Why is this important?
"Reacting" other stars can help create chain reactions! If you're perceptive enough, you'll find the best moves to make and clear the puzzle quickly and in a record number of moves.

Is that all?
Of course not! Reactions are just one part of the gameplay.
You can also perform a "slide reaction." In a slide reaction, you drag one star to the top of the board. When you let go, it comes crashing down, destroying itself and reacting with all adjacent stars on the way down! It's an advanced move that requires a lot of thought. If you use it correctly, you'll clear the board in record time. If not, you're sure to go over par!

Is there any more?
Yep! See that gauge and gun on either side of the screen? They let you use special abilities! When you make a match of a certain color, you gain a little energy to use. So if you make a match of red stars, red energy will appear in the tank. When you use it, you can target an area on the board and destroy stars!
But that's not all. If you have energy of more than one color, you can combine them to make different special abilities that can help you in new ways! Find new powers, use them wisely, and you'll be able to devise new ways to solve puzzles!

This is getting hard to remember.
Don't worry! The game will include optional tutorial levels that will gradually introduce you to each gameplay mechanic, effectively training you to think in "Star Reaction mode." It's incredibly fun once you learn to think like a puzzle-solver!

We may be new, but we're going to shake the world of gaming and give everyone a fun experience while we're at it! We've got a lot more fun games in the works, too!
Don't underestimate us! Keep challenging the expected!

I understand the idea behind changing colours, and it's indeed fun. Nevertheless, a colour-blind person would have trouble with that. It might be a good idea to add a slight shape que in addition to the coulour changes (for example blue - 3 arms star, violet - 4 arms star, and so on).

This looks really awesome and certainly good for my brain. Thanks for demonstrating how the game works. I find that really helpful. I would like to see this on steam, possibly with achievements ;)

At a reasonable price, I think this has enough complexity to be a fun timewaster.
