Sneak Peak at some New Components
Description
The Year is 3030, space just got personal and you're not even sure if your ship is air tight.

About The Game:

Take on space pirates, rogue factions, in overwhelming scale and unlimited freedom to define a role for yourself in the universes’ history. Your moral standards are your own and a code of ethics can be only a burden, become more than you are by stealing from everyone else; or enlist your friends and become intergalactic defenders of freedom.

The descent of your life, is really up to you.

Key Features:
  • Y3030 allows you to build a spacecraft of your own design. Space just got personal.
  • Endless possibility of destruction, with hundreds of weapon combinations and free placement of weaponry, each ship is it’s own gun; stand alone or stand with many.
  • A Zero Gravity environment supporting newtonian physics, with every degree of rotational freedom.
  • Ships are broken down into components which are then able to be positioned into any fashion or order you like. Think of it as building blocks in space, with a defining look.
  • Your ship is constructed by salvaging equipment and components from other destroyed ships. No pre-planned and pre-set player ship designs are mandated.
  • Each component contributes to the overall ships capabilities, through a combination of Energy, Weight, Cohesiveness and Structural Integrity. These component variables need to be managed at a micro and macro level to build the ultimate weapon.
  • Build your ship to match your play style, value and salvage heavy armour for a tank like vehicle or carry extreme amounts of energy generation components to supply overpowered weapons on a nimble tin boat. The heavier the ship, the more power required for the engines.
  • Multi-player battles like never before. One can bring a large capital ship while your friends fly out of the hangar bay on your command ready to swarm the enemy.

Very interesting looking, I would give it a go for sure.

@Gray Wood @Sheldon Lee Cooper It would make the game infinitely more immersive to do so in my opinion. I don't like when games force you to remain in a vehicle.

However it really depends on whether or not there's a gameplay-based need to walk around on foot, because it would be kind of pointless if the feature was just there for sake of it and really served no gameplay purpose.

@Sheldon Lee Cooper Honestly not sure, haven't decided if it's worth having that as a game play mechanic yet.

Will you be able to exit the ships and move as an individual?

Judging by the screenshots and info it would appear the PC version will be vastly different from it's XBOX counterpart, as well as superior. I guess I'll upvote in that case.

For anyone who doesn't know, this game is already on the XBOX LIVE Indie Games marketplace (and has been for a long time). A free demo of it is available there.

I was very dissapointed with the demo when I played it last; the game seemed quite empty and repetitive, the only objective being to pick up cargo and move it to another location. I'm not sure if the gameplay changed significantly upon progressing further, but the demo seemed to indicate the general theme of the game.

Another major problem was the controls; they made manuvering so clunky and awkward that it was nigh impossible to actually complete even the simple and mundane tasks assigned. I will say that the controls were probably meant to be like that, and it does make it more challenging and maybe even a bit more "authentic" having to use various thrusters to navigate. If one were to take the time to get used to them maybe it wouldn't be so hard to play. Even so, the controls still seemed overly hard to master.
