Another fan-service mod based on yet another cult-favorite movie/novel: Starship Troopers!

This mod, introduce the main antagonist: the Arachnid, or affectionately known as "Bugs" by the soldiers in the film, into the RimWorld. Now you can build an outpost on this forsaken planet and fight off these vile creatures, just like in the movies!


As the United Citizen Federation expanded its territory across the Galaxy, it came into contact with the Arachnid Species covering an area of it. The Federation initially considered the Arachnids to be a less advanced civilization. However, to avoid conflict, the region of space the Arachnids had colonized was Quarantined to prevent any humans settling within it. Despite this unofficial colonies were created, on Arachnid planets often ending in the Arachnid attacks of these poorly defended colonies leading to massacres.

After 5 consecutive Bug Wars against the Arachnids, the United Citizen Federation remains unable to prevent Arachnids' spread in some parts of the known galaxy. While they were wiped out within the Glitterworlds' systems, the "Bugs" had since expanded their territory into the Rim Worlds, where military operations against them is limited. However this became a huge threat to the new colonies that are currently being built on the Rim Worlds. They may only have just arrived in the Rim Worlds, but they will never stop until they conquer every single planet in the Rim Worlds.

Simple SideArms - to ensure the mod do not cause TankerBugs and Plasma Bugs to stop using / dropped their range weapon totally upon getting hit/melee - please go to Mod Settings, and choose LoadOutOnly preset.



A hardcore addon to make bugs attacks more frequent.

In this addition, the Arachnids will be more active in attacking your colony

– Recommended for those players who are looking for a more “Starship Trooper-ish” experience.
– Recommended for those players who are finding the original Arachnid mod not challenging enough.
– Recommended for those players who are really proud of their colony’s defense and fortifications.

word of advice put up tiny pillbox style 6by 6 building on the edges of your map. most big bugs will hit that stuff first. if you design them with the old school sandbox /pillar trick those buildings could then really come in handy for other situtation. also its not a bad idea to keep tiny makeshift hospitals near edges of map. just some 4by4 room with sleeping spots in them.

@Hanar - Yeah, thats just how it is. This mod is never meant to be "easy".

In fact, you are just very unlucky that their plasma hit so accurately. For most cases, its extremely inaccurate.

the plasma bug are not innacurate, in close range yes, in long, 2 bug wipe out my colony in 3 shot and every time i get them (i wierdly only gets bug attack and 3/4 of the time its plasma bug or a mix) they 1 shot every colonist they hit and they hit like 6/8 or 7/8 of shot they fire, so when they spawn i start running my guys to them and before they even get to my base far side i have lost 2 to 3 guys and when i can finally get to them im lucky i still have 1 standing

@luis mendez - The reason the number of warrior bugs is as such its because of the "point system" as used by the game engine. If I set it any higher, the problem is that most colonies will die a premature death 6 months in when the first warrior raid happens, because in most cases, they wont even get their wall and defense ready.... And if you do not have a wall, chances of winning against warriors are really low.

As for kill boxes - thats the entire point of flying bugs and plasma bugs (artillery) - no amount of warriors are going to beat kill boxes, as there will always be a more sophisticated kill box.

In the future I can create more elaborated combine attacks - but as of now, its just what it is.
I can make hardcore even more hardcore.... (i think)... but making warriors bugs even more numerous.... But I will think about it.

my todo list is getting really long... and I have no time to work on them nowadays.

i am just stating an [opinion] here. i feel the warrior bugs should be increased by at least .5% of current amount. when they attack most people bases and kill boxes possibly dont even take much time to wie them out. one last thing i feel like the hive event is to easy. to few warrior bugs spawn out of the hives to help defend the hives once the original force has been dealth with. if someone disagress with me lets talk about it. as i said this is just my opinion and i hope the mod gets updated for the increased challege. of course im aware of the hardcore add on but im speaking generaly about the base mod first.

So it meant to fck my ass right.. Well not that I complaint but. At end game where bases are big and your pawns are every where chances that the plasma shot will hit your herd animals are pretty high..well now let's pray for my 38 chickens

And in the movies, the plasma bug destroys an entire space cruiser with one shot... so yeah.. its meant to be powerful

@Tinteex - I will check what I need to do....

@ZeroDeffs - chickens probably, muffalos not sure. Because the plasma bugs are very powerful (but very inaccurate). They typically dun kill humans with one shot though... 2 or 3 maybe.
