Description
On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin became the first men to ever set foot upon another world, as part of the Apollo program. They spent over 21 hours on the surface, in which time they paved the way for another 140 hours by 10 more individuals. The Apollo Program and Neil Armstrong's momentus first steps were watched by millions worldwide, creating a generation of budding Astronauts and winning America the Space Race. The Apollo Program as it existed ingame is replaced with Project Longshot, a hypothetical spacecraft to Alpha Centauri. The Apollo Program Wonder provides +2 free technologies, +10 Science and provides +3 Scientist slots, making it a beneficial wonder for a Science victory.

Re-released ahead of schedule to commemorate the death of Neil Armstrong on this day, 25 August 2012. Requires Gods & Kings expansion pack, and credit to Sukritact for the Project Longshot icon

If you read the description of this mod, you'll see that this replaces the existing Apollo Program with Project Longshot

@Poua, true, but there's myths of the Moon once being a smaller Earth and it faded away into a chunk of rock.

Which is still a giant ball of rock separate from the giant ball of rock man had lived on beforehand, so it's another world

Technically,US won the space race...but in reality, russia was first in everything BUT the landing, they just fucked the N-1 Block A,resulting in them failing the launching of their own lander, and thus, losing the space race.
