Wintercross Weapon Skills

Description
NOTE: I'm realy disliking using Steam Workshop....
So no more updates here.
In future check out the mod at Skyrim Nexus:http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=8621

Whats with this mod?:

While I'm sure some people like the new set up of One handed and Two handed weapon skills, I myself prefered the Oblivion set up of Blade and Blunt. (I would prefer over that a more morrowind set up with longblade, shortblade, axe, blunt ect. but that is beyond the scope of this mod)

So, after poking around in the CK to my joy I found it isn't too hard to do what I want.

I have changed the skill settings for the various weapons, and renamed the skills from 'one handed' to 'Blade' and from 'Two handed' to 'Hafted' (just sounds a bit better than blunt since axes are rather sharp =P )

I've also tweaked the perks a little where I felt appropriate.
Here's the new perk lists

Hafted:
Barbarian: Affects Warhammers, Maces, War Axes and Battleaxes
Skullcrusher: affects both warhammers and maces.
Hack and Slash: Waraxe perk moved from onehanded (Blade)
Limbsplitter: No change
Devestating Blow: Affects Warhammers, Maces, War Axes and Battleaxes
Beserker Charge: Same as 'Great Critical Charge' except now affects Warhammers, Maces, War Axes and Battleaxes
Sweep: Now only affects Battleaxes and Warhammers
Warmaster: Affects Warhammers, Maces, War Axes and Battleaxes

Blade:
Armsman: Affects Swords, Daggers and Greatswords
Bladesman: No change
Blademaster: A modifyed Deep Wounds. Gives the increased Critical Damage, but also give greatswords the 'sweep' effect.
Combat Rogue: Replaces Bone Breaker. Lets daggers bypass armor (Might alter this in future)
Fighting Stance: Affects Swords, Daggers and Greatswords
Mighty Charge: modifyed Critical Charge that affects Swords, Daggers and Greatswords
Savage Strike: Affects Swords and Greatswords (I felt this perk didn't suit daggers)
Overpowering Force: Affects Swords and Greatswords. Instead of paralyzing it causes knockdown. I always hate melee weapons causing paralyze, seems wrong.

At the moment I'm not sure what to do with the Dual wield perks, so they're in the Blade perk tree for now.
One other thing to keep in mind, is that in vanilla Skyrim one handed skill progressed fast than the two handed skill due to two handed doing higher base damage. Because of the way weapons are now combined, I changed the skill rate for both skills to be the same as vanilla twohanded.

This mod will not work with other mods that edit the weaponskill perks, and will not work as intended with mods that add new, or edit existing weapons as I had to alter the skill assignment in the weapon records.

Future Plans:
-Create a new perk tree background for Hafted, at the moment it still uses the greatsword image
-Work on better balance and uniqueness of weapon skill perks
-Work on any compatability issue that may arise.
-Expand mod to encompass more combat related skills ie: archery and armor skills.

Let me know if there are any bugs, or balance issues.

dont change archery. Their are already archery mods out their (too many). You will make this mod incompatible with many games. Otherwise i like it. You should make daggers be supported by the blade tree. I always wanted to play with just a sword and dagger but it has been to impracticle.

Thanks. Amazing mod by the way, in the short period of time i've had the mod it's become an absolute 'must have'. A complete overhaul to the vanilla weapon skills. It utilizes both increased combat versitility, (such as allowing me to switch between a mace and shield and a warhammer) allowing gameplay to steer away from the vanila "sword and board" combat. Aswell as adding a great nostalgic ellement, reminding me of my time in oblivion/morrowind.I'm so surprized it has such low ratings! This mod deserves 5 stars, no questions asked. But you should definetely update it though, maybe add DLC support?

the perks for greatswords go to the swords tree, while perks for axes, maces etc were moved to the hafted tree.

However, this mod hasn't been updated for ages. I might get around to updating it in future but I just dont have the time at the moment.

Does it reset your perks? For an example my Orsimer has heavily perked his two handed perk tree in the vanila game, are his perks moved to the hafted perk tree or are they removed completely?

The problem is a general trend in over simplification

Indeed, when we don't have to specialize our characters, to choosr some things over others, we don't flesh out our characters as much, and the RP suffers. Your skills don't define if you are daggerwielding backstabber or an axe-swinging berzerker - so you don't relate as much. He becomes a moderate at all things, instead of a master at some things. Bethesda really should have identified this problem and realized it signifigance during testing.

Agreed. I think it is a shame that so many skills have been simplified.
The method, training and physics involved in using an axe compared to using a dagger are so vastly different. Yes you might use one hand, but the technique involved is very different.

I also lament the simplification of the magic schools, and armor skills.
Light, medium and heavy was a cool balance in my opinion;

Light being things like fur, leather and padded gambesons.

Medium being hard but flexible armors, like chain, scaled, lamelar, bonemould ect.

Heavy being rigid plate armors, like steel, ebony, daedric ect.

"I would prefer over that a more morrowind set up with longblade, shortblade, axe, blunt ect." - That's the last (important) piece of my Skyrim mod-puzzle. I wish someone would make this, then I'd be nearly 100% happy with this game. Using a dagger all through out the game should not make me a master of the war-axe. That's just dumb.

I find it very un-intuitive and irritating to update. I just realy don't like the whole organisation and interface. In comparison; Skyrim Nexus, (or the Nexus sites in general) are much easier to sort through and manage files. just a personal preference I guess.
