Intro

Greetings Tenno.
A hearty welcome to my new guide, which will hopefully teach you the ins and outs of the new 'Captura' mode.

Warframe has always been a game focused on style, killing enemies and looking dope doing it. Now you can do it even easier with one of the most powerful and complex free-cam screenshot modes ever. While being infinitely more powerful than most capture modes, I found it to be quite over designed, with a lot of useless infomation thrown at you without giving you a chance to aclimatise (Grain on by default. For shame!!).
This guide will focus on how to get into captura mode, how you can unlock new maps, and then how to use the actual settings themselves.

How to access 'Captura' mode.
Ok, let's get started. To access capture mode you have to access your arsenal. Yeah, it's not as obvious as you might think, not stashed inside an options menu somewhere (which would have made a lot more sense).

Click on the 'Captura' button to enter the map selection screen.

Another gripe I've got with this mode is the fact you actually have to actually "buy" the sets to take photos in, at an extortionately high price (100,000 standing) can't say I'm impressed with DE on this one, but no matter It's thier game.

To get more you have to buy them from the various vendors you find along your travels. You know the sort, Simaris, Teshin, etc.

Now that you know how to get into 'Captura' mode, and buy different (overpriced) sets, we'll get started on the settings of the mode itself.
Capura Mode
Ok, you've got this far, still with me? good. This is the real deal now, DE have made a pretty complex little package here and it's your job to make use of it if you so choose.

What you'll be greeted with when you first drop into 'Captura' mode, is a disusting fuzzy haze across your screen. For some odd reason the devs decided that having film grain on by default was a good idea; you'll be wanting to turn that off as soon as you get in.

I've set up a diorama to show the different effects, and the impact they will have on your screenshot.

Default

To access the options you'll want to hit "C", which will bring up a monstrous tab of infomation and scales and tabs.

Depth of Field

This is the big one, the one you'll be wanting to get right. This will dictate where the eye will be drawn to when you first see the shot. The background/forground will be blurred out to concetrate on whatever you choose. The first scale dictates where the blur will be postioned. To show this I've scaled it so only the middle pillar is in depth. You can scale either way depending on where you want to emphasise. The second scale controls how strong the blurring is.

Lighting Effects
Next, we'll looking at the lighting effects you have availble. There are lots of pre-sets you can go for, all of which drastically change the tone of your shot.

You get the point.

Saturation

Pretty easy. This simply pulls out the deeper colours from your shot, turning it more black & white, colour scheme, without sacrificing all colour, a nifty little tool.

Lighting Suit

Here we go boys and girls, this is the big one, and the most annoying. I'm pretty sure DE could have made this more user friendly, but what we have is pretty great. This suit (which needs to be toggled on) allows you to change the ambient colour shining onto your warframe, and even move the volometric lighting, making it shine somewhere else.

I've chosen purple as you'll be able to see the difference a lot easier.

This is what it looks like turned up to full. I would advise never doing this as it looks overdone and bleeds out all contrast into one matt layer, A.K.A making it ugly as sin.

The rest of the options determines what colour the alternative (side and back lighting) lighting will be. The rotation of the lighting itself can be moved according to your needs:

Finally, you also have the options of turning down the external lighting to almost nill. This will pull the background from the picture, leaving only your warframes' 'personal' lighting configurable.
Conclusions
So there you have it. You've masterd 'Captura' and hopefully are well on your way to making some stunning photos of you own!

Nice guide, but you're missing something. Screenshots, using Shift + f6 will get a screenshot that from what I know of, has no hud or anything. Of course, though, I can't find the file for it.

I think they should add a feature where you can control what the enemies do, too. That would be pretty cool. :>

I've run into the problem where when I choose a lighting effect, literally nothing happens, anyone else?
Six Apr 8, 2017 @ 1:20pm
It'd be cooler if you could make your own lighting effects.
