well that was exciting
An Analog Animated Interactive Short Sitcom for the HTC Vive
Episode 1: “In Cupcake Memoriam”

This is the story of a kid who doesn’t fit in.
Hovering cars, sentient refrigerators, robots living alongside humans, and Riley can’t touch any of it.
You are Riley Short, a weird little brother who shorts out any electronics he touches in his near-future world, and you’re out for revenge in your older sister’s room. With your family’s refrigerator, Fridge, egging you on via a hacked video feed, you will ransack Clarice Short’s room to find electronic items to short out in the name of little-brotherly vengeance.

• Featuring the vocal talents of Mela Lee as Clarice Short & Paul Rugg as Fridge
• Characters designs by webcomic artist Andy Klute
• Powered by VRTK – Virtual Reality Toolkit
• Includes fancy original animation sequences the way it should always be: in glorious 2D
• Original music to get you in the shorting mood. Soundtrack will also be available if Greenlit
• Your Vive Controllers become the grabby hands of Riley. Do be careful
• Riley can “dash” around (Vive Touchpad) if your play space is confined, or you can walk about as normal if you happen to be play-area-blessed
• Multiple endings & some rather awesome hidden content

Riley Short happened when I combined my love of video games with my years of experience in producing original 2D animation and added in the wonderful, shiny new world of VR. My sensibilities tend to be more family-friendly, but with an edge, much like my first animated short: “Kid with a Rocket Launcher”. Make no mistake, Riley is a sitcom with adventure game elements. If you want to shoot aliens or bash zombies, look elsewhere. This episode is all about Riley vs. his big sister. Episode 1 of Riley is nearly complete and would cost less than $10. Greenlighting Riley will allow me to put in some fun Steam Achievements before getting it out into the wild with the hope of building a series of fun VR episodes following Riley's exploits in a world that he's not compatible with.
Note: An Oculus Touch version is totally possible if I can ever afford to purchase an Oculus Rift.

System Requirements: Any HTC Vive-compatible & equipped Windows PC

It's okay. The trailer is pretty slow, and could definitely use a re-edit.

The whole premise of it seems to be "Riley Short Analogue Boy is funny", which, even if that's true at the start of the video, definitely wears thin by the end.

show don't tell
