alternative City Access

Description
alternativeCityAccess
=================

I made this for my own gameplay, cause it always felt strange, when I sneaked the guards at the main-gates. Now, sharing it with you may make one, or another happy ;)

this mod makes the sewers of the cities access-able ...well it does that for Winterrun, Riften & Markarth, since Windhelm & Solitude are lacking of a visible sewer-"entrance". However, I leaved Solidude as it is, because the "Dock Entrance" pretty much does the job in my eyes. In Windhelm I decided to make some kind of an own-access just to have one there too. I realise, there are some other ways to get hidden access, as the player makes progress in the quests, but I wanted this to fit some cliché (you know like crouching through the sewers silently & so on;)

How to use:
=========

look at the images! the bigger entrances are automated(like caves, just walk to the iron rods - one of them must be detachable!!! =P). The smaller ones work just as doors, by clicking.

Compatibility:
==========

-this mod is NOT compatible with the open-cities-mod
-may be not compatible with any mod, that alters the cities in the zones, the exits are

Issues:
=====

followers pathfinding in Whiterun is still not satisfying, but as there are some bugs in the CK, fixing this has to wait

->heard the bugs Navmesh bug is fixed, but i'm not into skyrim right now, so you may just find some other mod that is more up-to-date.

Install:
=======

as usual, just copy the alternativeCityAccess_1.0.esp into your data folder & make sure the plugin is checked in your preferred mod-manager, or default-launcher (the dl & install should work with NMM too, let me know, if I'm wrong on this).

Uninstall:
=========

off with that .esp!! :)

Change-log:
=========

v1.2 fixed companion issue (not really fixed yet!!!)
v1.1 new exit in Markarth
v1.0 initial release

v1.2 -fixed the companion-issue. Now, they will follow you though the sewers.
-changed the spawn-point for Whiterun-entrance from upper to lower town. This is because the companions have problems to exit the streambed in upper part of town. they still will follow you through upper exit
-added some navmeshes to give companion better possibility to reach the roads in Whiterun
-the filename still contains the version-number, my fault & I'm sorry. But that doesn't change anything for you at all. (Just sorters like BOSS etc. may not recognise it, don't know yet)

I've tested it with Lydia in all 4 cities.

->heard the bugs Navmesh bug is fixed, but i'm not into skyrim right now, so you may just find some other mod that is more up-to-date.

Notes:
=====

you can do with it, what you want, as long as i get the credits, for what I've done (if you let's say implement & release it).

This is my first release & English is not my native language so be kind with me ;)

have fun with it!

Love this, it is basicly what i was looking for. I didn't want all that fancy stuff they got out there.. and trap doors on the ground isn't lore friendly. You, by making this mod, have increased my roleplaying as a thief/assassin by.. a safe 97%. I love how it fits into the game so perfectly, almost as if these access points were already there. Thank you so much for this. <33

i haven't installed the game cause of to less space on my disc. I don't think there will come any upgrades 4 a while. i apologize. you may find some other plugin, that fits your playstyle.

hey you should open up the third entrance to riften (the one to the left of the temple of mara) always pissed me off the door to the right was open but not the one to the left.

May as well disregard the comment below...
Finally bit the bullet and added Detailed Cities and Outskirts to my load order, with Alternative City Access following them. All entrances/exits work as intended, and cities have retained their new facelifts to boot.

Finally, my thief can be stealthy, and enjoy the scenery whilst skulking by. Heheheh.

One small request would be for this to be compatible with the "Detailed Cities" and "Detailed Outskirts" mods for thieves and assassins of more discerning tastes... I'm afraid to try any of these, for fear of catastrophic dislike of each other.

I agree...this has plenty to do with gameplay...and sorry the guy tagged it against your oponion but that does not need a rate down! only rate down if it doesn't work or it's fake...something along those lines, not tagging.
Oh...the mods genius but we are limited to 50 mods (stupid skyrim launcher! ):' ) and that means i'll not be submiting but favoriting for the idea.
d0p4  [author] Feb 14, 2012 @ 5:59pm
that's pretty harsh to rate one down because of the tagging!
although i think i get your point (no new combatsystem or balancing or such), i still think this mod will change your gameplay, cause it helps to play much more stealthy (even on lower ranks).
if you don't like the mod, don't use it. you don't even have to tell me ;).
if it doesn't do, what it says, or break something up, rate it down! (even better: let the autor know, what's the problem, he might fix it in no time), but hey!
i'd rather see people react (&rate) on the mod itself, than on the way they found it, don't you think?!

This has nothing to do with gameplay. Learn to tag correctly. THUMBS DOWN
