P.S. Modular Combat 2 is a serious endeavor. We even formed a company; Ascension Entertainment LLC.

Modular Combat 2 is the spiritual successor to the 2008 Half-Life 2 modification "Modular Combat". The game includes RPG elements in the form of levels and exp points which you can spend on modules to make yourself unstoppable. You gain exp by killing other players and NPC monsters. Many elements that single player games have as cheat codes, we have as features; namely cloaking and teleporting. Other modules add things such as summoning minions to protect you, infecting others with radiation sickness and regenerating ammunition or armor.

3 diverse alien teams are fighting for dominance; Nanites, Mutant Scientists and Hostile Plants. Each team has their own special weapons. Nanites look like crystalline humanoids and their attacks are electricity based and can electrify, cool down or heat up targets. Mutant Scientists look like giant crabs and their attacks are blunt and ballistic based. Hostile Plants look like a tree, vines and a fruit/vegetable combined and their attacks are poison and acid based.

The demo will contain a small subset of weapons and modules. 2 weapons per team (Shotgun and Machinegun) and 17 popular modules (Recharge, Vitality, AUX Power Tank, Armor Capacity, Armor Regen, Ammo Regen, Cloak, Radiation Sickness, Teleport, HEALD, Damage Amp, EMP, Lasers, Turrets, Graviton Mine, Rabidzilla Minion, Mutafly Minion)

Characters will be stored on a central server so you can play on any server and your progress will be saved. The demo and future full version of the game will be cross platform on the client and server too (Windows, Mac, Linux).

Right now our development team consists of 10 and most of the content is created by us. Once the demo is finished and everyone has a chance to play it for a few weeks, we will start a Kickstarter campaign to fund the full version of the game which will replace this demo (it will be exclusively distributed via Steam). The full version will contain many more weapons, modules, maps, gamemodes and player/weapon customization's.

Note: Regarding any complaints that we should have used the HL2 storyline (Combine, Resistance and Aperture testing suits in BoSS facility) we could not because the HL2 storyline is owned by Valve. If MC2 were a mod, it would have been fine but since its going to be a retail game this is not possible (at least not without paying a high licensing fee which would kill the quality of the game).

I believe it will work for the better since it's a brand new universe, with new models and characters. Hope to hear more from this soon.

I remember the original game and I put plenty of hour into it. It's a shame that steam killed it with it's new rules, but I think you guys can still make a great game. I'm looking forward to it.
