Description
Before you ask: YES, this mod works with Brave New World.

"This map script uses various manipulations of Perlin noise to create landforms, and generates climate based on a simplified model of geostrophic and monsoon wind patterns. Rivers are generated along accurate drainage paths governed by the elevation map used to create the landforms."

Please note:

I am not the author of this script, Cephalo created this script in 2010 for Civ V and previously for Civ IV. I have simply updated it for G+K and uploaded to the workshop because it has not been done yet, and I am a big fan of his work.

Compatible with all versions of the game, including BNW. Don't forget to rate this file!

+==INSTRUCTIONS==+

To download just click on the subscribe button above the mod description. The game will automatically download and install the mod.

To use it in a game, click on the "MODS" button on the main menu in game and you should get a list of your subscribed mods. Click the check mark next to the mods you want to load (if it's green, then its loaded) and click next.

Then find the map "PerfectWorld 3" while at the setup screen, and you should be good to go!

For those who cant see the mod after subscription: goto mygames folder on your system and delete the inside of the cache folder in civ 5 folder. After restart of civ, the mod will be there.

+==ADVANCED==+

If the map is still not showing up under advanced options or in general, then you should go to the mod folder (Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\PerfectWorld 3) and move the .lua file into the maps folder (Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Maps). This will undoubtedly solve the problem because the game will now treat the script as a game file instead of a mod - meaning that you can even play the map on single player without going to the mods menu. This also means you can work towards achievements (as achievements are disabled when using mods).

If you think that there are too many mountains/jungle/marsh etc. you can do this:
- go to the mod folder (generally located in Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\PerfectWorld3 (v 1) )
- open then the PerfectWorld3.lua with a text editor
- scroll a bit down to the function MapConstants:New()
- Here you can now edit a lot properties of the map generator to your liking. For example, setting the value mconst.mountainsPercent to 0.9 will decrease the number of mountains (since this is a threshold value). You can play around with this and other values (except the values at the very end of the constants) until you find a configuration of your liking!

@bolo99 Who cares about achievements? Games like these are meant to be enjoyed even tho getting achievements is quite enjoyable too.

Does it block achievements?
If it does, can I create map with it, save map and play it without the mod?

There's an issue with rivers. I always get started next to them, but they are never complete rivers. They always terminate around my starting point. Or if I'm next to the coast, they'll terminate 2 or 3 hexes into the mainland. Same basic problem, never any strong continuous rivers. Another issue I found (though this one might be dependent on another mod) is that when panning around the map, there's essential an "invisible border" that once my camera passes it, parts of a nearby river disappear and get cut off altogether. The trench for the river is still there, just no water. The first issues happens even if perfectworld3 is the only mod activated. As I said, the second may be dependent on other mods, I'm currently narrowing down (a different and possibly completely unrelated issue) by only activating 5 mods at a time. That other issue being thick black or red grid lines and other map issues.

Somehow this map kinda doesn't like the RESTART option :P (Crashes, etc.) No idea why, but still definately one of the best MAP mod in CIV 5. Been sick and tired of having to play on Continents all day until I saw this, and somehow works very well with Really Advanced Setup mod!

This mod makes all of my games better. I don't know if it's placebo effect from knowing the maps have more realistic design or that I can actually see the difference, but every game I play from now on will need this mod involved.

You need to open the perfectworld3.lua file you put in your maps folder. find supportmultiplayer and it says false. Change this to true and it should show in mp games then. It is probably a bug since it says it supports mp in PerfectWorld3 (v 1).modinfo file.

Hey I am trying to use this map in a muliplayer game. I moved to the MAP file folder and it still doesn't pop up when I try to host a game. Any help?

@BeingDS I believe your game crashes because you are adding different mods to the game with specific mods (I had that happen before). All I know is that if you forget your combination of mods for one game, just delete that game. It works, I swear!

@BeingDS Whenever I load a savegame with PerfectWorld3, everything works fine. I am pretty sure that you are one of the only people experiencing that problem.
