Vigil Chronicles is a first-person horror game that blends elements of point and click adventure, survival horror and interactive storytelling to create a uniquely disturbing experience.

Take up the tools of a paranormal investigator as you explore the isolated Stillman Hall. Talk to the owner to learn what you can, inspect the house for anything out of place and gather evidence from CCTV, EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) conversations and your sensors to track whatever entities inhabit the house and put them to rest – permanently.

Alone and with limited resources, you must use your best judgement on how to proceed. Every move you make will change how your night unfolds, for better or worse.



Vigil Chronicles is a game of duality - of light and dark, restraint and recklessness.

Use the tools at your disposal to examine the house for clues, track down the entities and uncover their motivations and ultimately, help them move on – one way or another.

At the same time, your investigation may awaken something dark in the house that will begin to impede your progress or try to harm you. You will need to carefully manage your time and resources to outwit, outrun or defeat this dark entity before it becomes too strong and drags you down into the darkness.

Your choices will determine how your story plays out. You are not alone. You are being watched and everything you do is being monitored. The closer you get, the more dangerous things become.



Our aim with Vigil Chronicles is to try create a new type of horror experience - something unsettling and subtle. There are no jump scares, no planned chase sequences, no gory mutilations. There is just you and an entity.

  • Explore a living world - The ghosts in the house wander freely and could be anywhere. Use EMF (electro magnetic field) and temperature sensors to track their movements, learn their habits and interact with them.
  • Embrace isolation - Listen closely to the world around you. What makes sound, what doesn't, which sounds move or change? These questions could save your life eventually. Heavy emphasis on ambience and a lack of music aim to immerse the player in the isolation of Stillman Hall.
  • Learn from your encounters - A strong presence controls the malevolence in the house. It will watch you, learn where you go, predict your movements. It reacts to your actions and will hunt you mercilessly. If you want to survive, you will have to be as unpredictable as your opponent.
  • From chaos - Very little of the game is scripted. Everything that occurs is random or a result of your actions. The game's difficulty, the encounters and your own experience can vary wildly. You might have a peaceful night of investigation, or you may spend the night running for your life. Choose your path carefully.
  • Memories – A dark history lurks behind the events at Stillman Hall, shrouded in anger, regret and sorrow. Finding the root of the trouble is left to you. Find answers and make your own judgement to determine how you want the story to end. The choice may not be easy.

If you can't get your game to run at a respectable framerate, you shouldn't be putting it on greenlight. Blaming it on the recording software is just a bullshit excuse. Here you are trying to sell a product for real actual money, and you can't be fucked to put together a professional showing. Not only that, but you think that you can excuse the fact that it looks like garbage on recording software. No one forced you to use that particular software or to put this up for consideration prior to fixing that. It's still on you. Maybe finish off that to-do list before asking people to get on board rather than trying to sell everyone on a promise that you'll "fix it later".

The framerate is just a problem with the video recording. Our minimum specs aim for 30FPS (on a 2011 Mac, on-board graphics) but a standard graphics card does run at 60FPS in all current tests. There are still optimisation passes to do later though. Some new post processing effects need to be smoothed out, for example. It's on the to-do list. :)
