Description
Like many, I found Skyrim's horses to be unrealistically and unreasonably slow. Travel by horse was hardly faster than by foot, making it unrewarding.

Horse speed and gallop-time has been given a significant -yet balanced- boost, for a more realistic (and fun!) experience. You'll find yourself riding more often, fast travelling less, and overall feeling like the mounts are more enjoyable and worthwhile.

No known bugs at this time.

Enjoy!

02/08/2012 - Updated to Version 1.1:

After user feedback, and many hours of tweaking and playtesting, horse speed has been ever-so-slightly reduced to be a clean 30% faster than default. It feels really natural and balanced, without sacrificing the fun or feeling that you're moving at a full gallop. While speed has seen a reduction, your horse's stamina (gallop time) has been slightly extended. Like a real horse, yours wont need to take a breather every few seconds. As always, your feedback and suggestions are welcome; Please feel free to e-mail me at ByJovMods@gmail.com

Change log:
-Horse 'Run' and 'Sprint' speeds reduced to +30%
-Turning speeds restored to normal due to the Intro's horse trip becoming slightly quicker, causing a minor timing mismatch in the dialogue.
-Horse stamina increased.

Nice mod! Thanks! :)
But who says the old horses are useless? I can carry like 6000-something units of weight and march at normal running speed thanks to sitting on a horse. Also fast travel is possible with that. :D

So what's wrong with just making the stable horses the only horses affected. There must a be a way for that to work. When I rode the horse just a tap on the sides with my heals to go faster. It always worked on the real horses.

The only problem in this mod is that it ruins the whole beginning of the game. (I know author didn't mean it, but it does this though)
The starting cutscene and entering Helgen dialogue depends on when Talius' horse enters the gate... With this mod it enters it like 10-15 seconds earlier than it needs to, and this makes the cabs with the prisoners (and the Player) go crazy and smash into the game terrain trying to get into the city through the closed gates (they close 10 seconds after Talius enters). And that's why you can't even enter character selection - you can't get to the final point in Helgen to start the game.
So I like this mod as in-game, but you should probably disable it to start a new game, and then re-enable it after loading your save out of Helgen, and it will work nice and smooth.

yes useful

Very good mod. I always use it. I think the horses should have been this fast in vanilla.

I have learned the hard way to not have this turned on during the tutorial.

not a good mod sorry, tried that while the beginning was playing and the horse and the wall became best friends....

I always assumed horses were slowish because they're supposed to be stocky things more well suited to Skyrim's uneven terrain, and to balance the fact that they can sprint infinitely.

Still makes them totally pointless to ride, though. Good mod, wouldn't ride horses without it (or something similar).

The mod sucks without the invincibal horses mod, beacuse even if you go over a small hill your horse will die. Otherwise i like it.
