Description
THE NEWEST VERSION OF THIS MOD IS LOCATED HERE:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=104003521

DO NOT USE BOTH VERSIONS TOGETHER. DELETE THIS VERSION BEFORE INSTALLING THE NEWER VERSION (or vice versa).

Improves the stealth AI for select standard followers. While sneaking, they will no longer run headlong into battle. They will also unequip torches while sneaking.

**UPDATE**
I've completely remade the Standard version from scratch. It is now fully compatible with other mods that alter the NPCs such as Better Followers and Specialized Followers. It should also be compatible with mods that alter the follower quest/dialogue such as UFO and EFF.

I'll be adding more followers with the next update. I think I'll eventually also add a dialogue option so you can toggle the modified combat behavior on or off for different followers.

WHAT IT DOES:
This mod changes follower behavior in two ways. These changes only occur while the player is sneaking. If the player is not sneaking, then the follower's behavior will be unchanged.

1) While the player is sneaking, the follower won't initiate combat with nearby hostiles until after the enemy has actually attacked. Once either the follower or the player is attacked, the follower will enter combat like normal.

2) If the follower has a torch equipped, they will unequip the torch while sneaking.

Note: If you give your follower a torch while they are already in sneak mode, they may choose to equip it. If you don't want them to use the torch, simply exit sneak mode, wait a few seconds, then re-enter sneak mode. This will trigger them to unequip the new torch.

In addition, all five housecarls will unequip torches while sneaking. They will still initiate combat, however. After all, their entire purpose is to protect you from harm. They can hardly be expected to tolerate any enemies that get too close to their Thane. If you really wish to change this, just use the console to remove them from the "BetterStealthTorchOnly" faction.

The modified stealth behavior has been applied to...
- Jenassa
- Marcurio
- Aela
- Brelyna Maryon
- Adelaisa Vendicci
- Faendal
- Erandur
- Belrand
- Annekke Crag-Jumper
- Aranea Ienith
- Derkeethus
- Ghorbash the Iron Hand
- Kharjo
- Lob
- Sven
- Roggi Knot-Beard
- Ugor

- Sapphire*
- Rune*
- Vipir the Fleet*
- Garthar*
- Ravyn Imyan*
*Only if Thieves Guild Followers is also installed.

THIEVES GUILD FOLLOWERS: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=19078
I have also added this feature to Sapphire, Rune, Vipir, Garthar, and Ravyn in Thieves Guild Followers. You will need to have both Better Stealth AI - Standard and Thieves Guild Followers installed in order to have the modified behavior applied to these NPCs.

There are two versions of this mod. One for unique followers and one for standard followers.

The Unique version affects Cicero & the Dark Brotherhood Initiates, Mercer Frey during the quest Speaking with Silence, and Brynjolf & Karliah during the quest Blindsighted. The Unique version can be found here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=74479845

No, I don't have Dragonborn yet. Are there companions added by Dragonborn that use a unique follower system? If they use the default follower quest, then they'll already be compatible with this mod.

Yep, the latest version is on Nexus and includes an update for Serana: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16531
I'd upload it here, but the auto-update feature on Steam makes it difficult, since it would mess up the game for anyone who has subscribed to the mod and doesn't have Dawnguard.

I love this mod, so helpful (since I use Marcurio the most.) I'm finally working on Dawnguard however, and it doesn't seem to work with Serana. Is there a way you can add the stealth AI for her? She is driving me nuts with her running into battle at the wrong moments! :)

Here is the latest version: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=104003521

This version will work with ALL followers who use the default follower system. @KennyBall - It may also solve the issue with the mounted followers (I haven't actually tested this, but I did add a condition to the AI package to check if the player was on horseback).
