Premise

Annihilation is a gritty, harsh open world survival game with voxel based building mechanics for PC, Mac and Linux. In it, players can choose to either survive alone or work with or against other players who are all competing for the limited supply of resources such as weapons, food, and water which the player will need to survive. You must venture through a large open world to find towns and buildings which may contain weapons such as knives, axes and guns. However, these areas are often swarming with skeletons who will chase down and kill you if you aren’t careful. Once you get weapons the next goal will be to find food and water. To do this you will either need to scavenge for containers of food and water or hunt down and kill deer using bows and rifles. You can also find blocks in these buildings which you can use to build bases, huge castles, or any structure you can imagine. With limited resources scattered around the world you must decide how you will survive. Will you try to become allies with other players or shoot on sight for fear of being killed yourself? What lengths will you go to in order to stay alive?

Features

Massive Open World- Explore Annihilation’s massive 228000 km (140000 mile) handcrafted world. On your travels you will come across three distinct biomes: Grass, desert, and tundra. Each biome contains hills, mountains and forests making no stretch of land the same. Plenty of room to build your kingdoms.

Buildings: As you travel across the world you will come across deserted buildings left over from before the undoing. These buildings are fully explorable and contain goods necessary for survival such as food, water, weapons, and building cubes.

Day/Night cycle- Fully immerse yourself in this world with a day and night cycle. You will need to gather resources to survive but you also need to be quick about it, because soon the light will start to fade and night will fall, the darkness leaving you at the mercy of your enemies.

Survival: The world of Annihilation isn’t pretty, it's harsh and punishing. If you hope to survive you'll need food and water regularly. You'll constantly need to be on the lookout for food supplies in buildings and hunt in order to stave off starvation for another day.

Enemies: Even in singleplayer you're not alone. Along with the remaining wildlife there are others who still walk these lands, and they all want to kill you. When going near habitation to find food or walking through the forest alone at night you may find yourself at the mercy of these enemies unless you're well armed. Let's hope you're a good shot.

Hunting- You'll soon starve to death and there are no buildings in site. Armed with a bow or rifle, go on the search for deer to silence your rumbling tummy. Be careful, if you get too close you'll spook them and they'll run off. You better learn how to hunt soon or you won’t make it long.

Building- In some buildings you'll find coloured blocks which you can pick up and move. With these blocks you can build. Build what? Anything you want. A small hut for shelter, a huge castle for you and your friends, or a massive city for your faction. Unleash your creativity as you rebuild in this destroyed world. If you can imagine it, you can build it.

Multiplayer- Instead of having only small, player hosted servers like many games in the genre, Annihilation will have a small number of large capacity servers as well as the capability for player to host their own servers. Although players can try to survive and create on there own using single player, I believe the large scale multiplayer will be by far the most popular game mode. Having a small number of large scale servers brings in a whole new aspect to the survival experience, player interaction. When you come across a random player how will you react? Will you shoot on site or try to become allies? This dynamic opens up unlimited possibilities, you can make friends, make enemies, form a clan, go to war with other clans, build cities together, tear down other peoples cities, or anything else you can imagine. We will be continually adding new networking features such as friends, factions, and faction control over a server.

Developing story- As development progresses we will have a larger development team, and will begin to add in clues to how the world got this way, with NPC's and missions added to give the game structure.

Dedicated development team- We hope to launch onto Steam Early Access, which will allow users to provide input and help shape the development of the game. When games are released on Early Access there is always the risk that they will become abandoned and never be completed as promised. No matter what the sales or reaction to the game is development will continue. Even if sales are disappointing and a larger team can not be hired the game will still be completed at a slower rate until the quality improves enough that sales increases. In short, we're in this for the long haul, and the game will be completed. The needs and views of the community will be listened to, respected, and taken into consideration. We will actively communicate with the fanbase to gather your opinions and will always be there to provide technical support and information about the game, and will keep you informed on upcoming updates and developments.

The game looks terrible and the music made me feel suicidal. Why the need for a 'huge' open world if you're going to have major problems filling it with interesting things to do. Shooting stuff only goes so far.

At the time of writing this comment, I wouldn't play this game if it was free.

Pros
+It's not in the Steam store.

Cons
-Models that actually have textures are non-tiled textures
-No crosshairs (Im assuming the cursor isn't locked to the window either)
-A framerate of 8 fps
-A world as bland as the middle of Daggerfall
-Fog distance also similar to Daggerfall, WHICH WAS RELEASED IN 1996
-Minecraft clone
