Description
Overview:
This mod removes the starting pet and allows you to buy which ever starting pet you wish.
Buy pets at Infinity Express
Use Pet trap to remove unwanted pets.
This mod will remove custom pets of custom races if they use the vanillia method of spawning ( tech station ).
But you won't be able to buy custom race pets without a seperate mod.

Its a bug on CF side - doesn't happen to everyone.
I suggest using the pet trap to kill of the extra pets.

Same thing happens with crew members in vanillia

Um, I have one bunny house on my ship, but each time I leave and come back onto the ship, there is another bunny. I how have three identical rabbits on my ship. How is this fixed?

Just image files, I don't know nearly enough about the coding that goes into the monsters to have them act different, I just wanted a specifically patterned cat. Though, I do have a good-news-update. I did narrow it down to something in my retexture folder (which is odd. I took that out before and it didn't do it. I must have forgotten to try the pet trap again), and began to re-add each file one at a time to see what did it. The weird thing is, however, was that the only thing I didn't add back in was my modinfo file, and it's all working proper again. So the good news is, I have your great mod operational again! Bad news is, I still don't really know what happened, and I can't seem to replicate it... I'm really sorry for all of the fuss and hubub! Thanks for the help, though! If you hadn't suggested the 'vanilla files' thing, I wouldn't have checked and thought to go one file at a time!

When you made your mod did you add in all the vanilla files, or only the image files? If you added the vanilla files - you overwrote my changes.

That was the first think I tried. It worked for a split second, but then the pet respawns back over by the SAIL station.

I'm not exactly sure what happened, but for some reason, this mod abruptly stopped working for me. Not fully, though. I can still buy the items from the Infinity Express and spawn pets in via their houses, but my original ship pets show up and won't leave! I haven't done anything with the pet.lua since this mod last worked, only a bit of retexturing (one WAS of one of the at colors, but when I was done with that, the mod still worked fine. I even removed the retexture to check if that would fix it to no avail). Would you have any idea what the problem might be? I can share my log file if need be. I tried looking at it, but nothing seemed out of place...

@nick - there is no way to fix that.
Ideally custom races should use my method of spawning as it will make it compatible for all mods. But that decision is up to each individual mod author.

I used to be able to kill the pet permanently with lava but after some updates the pet just respawns infinitely... And now, finally, I can get rid of the pesky little shit for good.
I am so happy.
And I even get to have a bunny or a pig or whatever else instead?!
I am keyboard-crying.
