Description
Overview:
* This mod removes the starting pet and allows you to buy which ever starting pet you wish.
* Buy as many vanillia pets as you want from Infinity Express.
* Use Pet trap to remove unwanted pets.
* This mod will remove custom pets of custom races if they use the vanillia method of spawning ( tech station ). but you won't be able to buy custom race pets without a seperate mod.
* Buy Pets at Infinity Express in the Outpost.
* Works with existing characters.

Update 1.3 Emergency Bug Fix

If you are using a custom race mod with a custom tech station. This mod won't work.
You can try my other workshop mod No Starter Pet.

Answered my own question. Installed it on my server running 1.2 and FU with FR. No issues so far. The mod didn't get rid of my original pet by default, but I used the trap to remove it. Great mod!

If you are using any mods that modify ground pets lua or vanillia tech station - there will be conflict issues. If you installed the mod after creating a new character - the starter pet will be there.

I ended up with a starter pet as well but I'm still able to purchase pets directly. My starter pet was a kitty.

I have tested it quite a few times. My mod has no issue with the latest update ( using only my mod + vanillia 1.2.1 ) - It seems to be working fine. It is quite likely you are having a 3rd party mod which is causing the issue. Whether it be a race mod or another mod which modifies tech station \ pet files. Or you unpacked your assets into asset folder. Etc

As of the most recent update (1.2.1), starting pets are appearing again when a new character is created.

Well it seemed to be a problem with my custom pet, but it wouldn't spawn, I just had to update the monstertype file

I double checked the mod just now - I do not see any issue. What issue are you facing?
