Room Without a View

Observation rooms have been temporarily removed from this test to better understand the Hawthorne Effect.

The Hawthorne effect is a form of reactivity whereby subjects improve or modify an aspect of their behavior being experimentally measured simply in response to the fact that they know they are being studied, not in response to any particular experimental manipulation. Although illumination research of workplace lighting formed the basis of the Hawthorne effect, other changes such as maintaining clean work stations, clearing floors of obstacles, and even relocating workstations resulted in increased productivity for short periods. Thus the term is used to identify any type of short-lived increase in productivity.

In the interest of science, please do not try to locate an observation room or any form of bipedal or tripedal companionship. Any such efforts will be dealt with swiftly, even though we are not watching. Try not to think about it.

Now that I've viewed the walkthrough. I see that I missed a portal position when trying to get the CC out of its cage by using the tractor beam. I actually thought that the diagonal panel that you place a portal on to tractor the CC out of its cage, would fold down when the left laser relay is hit, just like its neighbouring panels do.

Because of all the moving parts in the map it becomes harder to think about. Try putting less elements and conditionals in your map.

The key ideas of the first part of the puzzle are:
a) use the tractor beam to move the cube
b) placing a portal on two diagonal surfaces creates a straight connection

These concepts are actually not that hard, but because the map is so cluttered this part of the puzzle is still frustrating.

Also in your solution I see that the right layer relay is never used and neither is the second laser. Don't put useless elements in your map.

As Tabarnacos pointed out. When trying to retrieve the companion cube, I was standing the activate laser button which caused the CC cage to open, then I hopped into a portal to enter the CC cage. I was no langer standing on the laser button, so the CC cage closed and I was stuck.

Furthermore, the number of lines and symbols in the map is too much if not overwhelming.
I was not able to solve the map. I attempted two things. One was to use the button activated laser to go through the right laser relay, which activates the second laser. Then I tried to use the second laser and portal to use go through the second laser relay, so the second laser would keep itself active. This failed however cause of laser height difficulties.

My second plan was to open the CC cage, and use the tractor beam to move the CC out of its cage. Although I could get the tractor beam into a portal at an angle, I wasn't able to let it hit the cube.

Oh, I see. I didn't figure that anyone would do that so it is good to know. I will take a look and see if I can fix that.

No i got physicaly stuck inside the box i had to restart the level.

When you say you got stuck do you mean you had trouble figuring it out, or did something go wrong with the level itself? I thought the turret part was kind of funny, but I know people tend not to like unneccesary elements so I may take it out. I actually subscribed to your puzzle before you asked - about to play it now.

Got stuck 2 time inside the box for the button door and in the box where the cube is trap.
You shouldn't had stuff that is not necesary to solve the puzzle like the stuff at the turret. You can also put the cube in the box from the angle panel. But for the rest nice little puzzle.

Try mine and let me know what you think.

As promised, here is the walkthrough video I put together for this level:

The quality of the video capture is not great but it will show you exactly what you need to do. Again, this was intended to be very difficult. Let me know what you think of the level now that you know the solution.

My aim was to create a difficult puzzle so I very well may have succeeded - sorry for any frustration, though! I am going to put together a walkthrough later that I will share on here.

Completely lost. Too many things to interact with up front. Tried many buttons and switches in different combinations. No idea if I was making progress or just going in circles.
