A sedative designed to aid in the taming process

Mod ID: 711047840

Adds 500 to Torpor over 15 seconds.
Decreases Food by approx 450 over 3 seconds (this only has this much of an effect on an unconsious dinos hunger levels. Conscious dinos are able to resist the hunger inducing effects and cannot be used to help with passive taming).
Affects creatures with different metabolic rates to different degrees.

15 Narcotics
10 Stimulants
10 Spoiled Meat
50 Fiber
2 Rare Flowers
2 Rare Mushrooms

Requires level 30 to learn the engram which costs 12 points and is made directly in your backpack now (Mortar & Pestle or Chemistry Bench are no longer required).

Needless to say this item is not really recommended for human consumption, but hey, if you fancy it, knock yourself out.

- Due to either the Ark Dev Kit limitations or more likely my understanding of how it works, I am currently unable to have the same level of control over how much 'Food' is lost between conscious and unconscious dinos. If I set it to drop 'Food' by 450 on an awake dino it will completely wipe out the Food bar entirely on an unconscious one. So I have to set it to -2.25 for awake dinos instead which equates to just around 450 on an unconscious Dino. If I ever find a way to resolve this I will have it so it has the same effect on both conscious and unconscious.

@Ixtab, You knock the creature out first and then once you have access to it's inventory you place normal taming food and one or more Taming Sedatives into it's inventory and get it to consume one (or more, although I advise one at a time until you are used to how much it affects the creature) of the Taming Sedatives and its food bar goes down which it will then eat the other food to replenish which is how the taming bar is advanced. Needless to say this cannot be used to tame dinos that arent KO'd first. The secondary effect is that it increases the dino's Torpor keeping it under for longer.

So, I haven't played in a while, and Just started a single player game recently mostly just to build and have fun. I am a bit rusty, so I am confused as to how to use this? Do I have to knock the dino out first, using the narcotic arrows, then put this in it's inventory? Or is there a way to shoot a dino with this stuff?

Just wanted to say I love this mod and I hate to play without it. I prefer solo play and this makes life so much easier! :steamhappy:

Thanks @Appletini. @Daedrox, there was over time effects on both the torpor and the food, but the latest changes have increased those times (15s for Torpor and 3s for Food), I've also increased by 50% the Food decrease

Gave this mod a thumbs up rating; I always have over 50 available because the cost of the item is perfectly managable :steammocking:

Does this apply the effect instananeously or over a duration?
For instance, narcoberries apply 7.5 torpor over 3 seconds. Narcotics apply 40 Torpor over 8 seconds. As torpor doesn't decrease while it is being applied, the duration is also important.
If this applies torpor at the same rate as Narcotics, it would be 500 torpor over 100 seconds? (Would have the same effect as using 12.5 Narcotics at once.)
And if it is over duration, is the food decreased over the same duration?
