Downscaled Ships

Compatible with 2.0.*

Graphical mod only. No gameplay changes.

This mod fixes a couple of problems with the default visuals:
  • Fleets are too tightly packed and ships often clip through each other. Once you have a big and especially if you have allies, you can't even tell one ship from another. Not to mention the far bigger mess that two large fleets crashing into each other creates. Downscaling every ship type fixes this.

  • You don't get a proper sense of capital ships and escort ships because the scale between ship classes increases more or less linearly and corvettes for example are just too big compared to battleships. This mod creates a clear distinction in scale between corvettes/destroyers and cruisers/battleships.

  • Turrets are scaled down relative to ship sizes to make ships feel bigger.

  • Engine exhaust trails and some weapon effects are scaled down as well.

  • Also rescaled: starbases, habitats, stations, defense platforms and various creatures and objects around the galaxy.

-Multiplayer: every player needs to have this mod enabled.
-Not achievement compatible.
-This mod is not made for improving performance.
-Mod compatibility: mods that add new ship models need a compatibility fix. Otherwise they will look bigger compared to the vanilla ships. See the list below or search the workshop (not all patches are listed here).

Compatibility patches:
-New Ship Classes.
-Improved Space Battles.
-System Alliance Ships.
-We Are Imperial Navy.
-AI ship set.
-Sins of the Prophets.

Requesting additional compatibility patches:
-It's not complicated to make one but it is tedious (see the tutorial here). I recommend making one yourself by looking at how the other compatibility patches were made. I may create one every once in a while (when I'm bored and I feel like creating one as long as the patch doesn't require a lot of work) but I will not actively create patches for every ship mod out there.

Change log:
10/12/2017: fixed oversized ship preview images
23/02/2018: rescaled titans, colossi, starbases
24/02/2018: rescaled mining/research/terraforming/observation stations, defense platforms, pirate ships and stations as well as other neutral things around the galaxy, laser beam width

Nice to find Chondrite here too. I love his work with AI mods on Hearts of Iron 4!

Hello, no other mods are activated. However I don't use the beta so I guess this is the problem.

Havn't looked into it, but I suspect he is using NSC :3

Could just be an issue with not using the beta. I don't get these errors.

@ajkula What issue are you running into in game?

Hello, the error log brings up the following errors:

@EkstEasy Sounds like you have a mod that adjusts either system scale or mega structures. DSS will never cause this effect.

Haven't subscribed to any ISB / ISBS-mods, so this can't be it. Alright, let's do this the hard way - disabling every mod and trying to figure out, which mod it is. Maybe I'll write a workaround for it, if I find it. Thanks, sir!

@ EkstEasy
That isn't caused by this mod it's being caused by another mod, most likely ISB (Graphics) since that is where I've seen the bug reported most and a bug fix has also been posted somewhere in the comments section there.

Hello my friend. Sorry if this question has already been answered, but is it a known problem that ringworld sections clip into each other and seem to not work properly when scaled? Thanks in advance and - great work!
