If you like this mod, rate it up to end inaccurate third persons for good! If not, you can do that too, no hard feelings.

READ BEFORE INSTALLING:

*this is a repost from 2013 which was hosted on l4dmaps with over 30,000 visits. This is the most recent version of that, fully updated reconfigured from player's feedback. This is the most accurate third person cfg I ever played with.

This only includes the flashlight file. You are required to have basic source-game console command knowledge (which means you must know how to enable it too). To enable my custom third person cfg file, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to your steam file, then go here: \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\cfg

2. Create a text file here and rename it to autoexec.cfg (Remember to have file extensions enabled in your explorer so you can change it from .txt to .cfg)

3. Copy this following cfg into your newly-created autoexec (I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PERMANENT CHANGES TO YOUR KEY BINDINGS, MAKE A BACKUP):

4. Launch game, open the console, and type in

exec autoexec

and you should be good to go. If you make changes to the above cfg, run this step again.

Controls are as follows:

Note: Run/walk is swapped. Please see cfg above if you want to keep it to default l4d2 shift-to-walk mode

FIRST, PRESS 'Mouse3' (zoom) TO ACTIVATE ALL THIRD PERSON FUNCTIONS!

+Middle mouse button - Toggle First/Third Person, center aim if in RE cam mode
+Shift - Run (can be removed if you look at cfg)
+Alt - Toggle Left/Right shoulder view
+Capslock - Toggle RE cam mode
+X key - Zoom in with scoped weapons

This cfg is best played with sv_cheats 1 so you can see your flashlight's dot better. Your bullets will go towards your red dot and this is the most accurate third person I've seen yet.

Known issues:

Shotgun sounds do not work in third person (no known current fix)
Cannot zoom out automatically of scoped weapon when using TPS toggle
Primary weapon's bullets are slightly off-centered to the top left of the red dot. Secondaries are hella-accurate though
