Last addition for Alpha 4
Custom Ships

One thing I've been wanting for awhile is for the player to be able to customize their ship. Most games would allow you to change a couple colors or add on a few cosmetic attachments. But I felt I could allow the player to go a little further and make it how THEY want it. In Alpha 4 there will be custom ship model importing!

Through a modelling program like Blender you can design your model and export it to the Collada (.dae) model format. You will then be able to import it into the game. There will be a few limitations though. Models will only use vertex colors although I may include an option to select a different shader that uses the materials. But for now with the current shader the vertex colors are converted into other colors in-game. Red is used for the primary AND secondary colors (lerps between the colors). Green is used for the glow color. Blue lets you switch to a second set of primary/secondary colors. Textures won't be imported since that won't fit the theme of the game. Animations won't be used either. Lastly, the size of the ship will have a limit as well (wouldn't want people using ships that are bigger than the arena!)

I'm still working on setting things up so that when the model is imported, it looks through the model and looks for objects with certain names so that it can attach certain effects or weapons to them like "Jet Pivot" and "Weapon Pivot". So how you name some of the objects will matter. A ship settings xml file will be generated so you can customize things further like how the ship controls (arcade movement like Asteroids or directional movement) and the colors of the ship and which objects.

Going further
My goal after Alpha 4 is released is to add some basic co-op multiplayer, because everyone loves multiplayer. It will probably be limited to about 2-4 players and it should support custom ships as well.

Two new enemies
  • Reformer: Respawns once after death. Wields a Tier 2 laser weapon (formerly known as the Fat Bullet Cannon). Large orange ship.
  • Necroformer: Respawns enemies that have died. Large bright green ship.


A new ability
  • Respawn: Just like the Reformer's ability to respawn, it gives you another chance to fight

Look and feel
  • Weapons have been renamed
  • Background changes color overtime
  • Grid lines now blend in with their surrounds and the image itself has been modified
  • Laser projectile lines have been slightly modified
  • Fire has been modified once again. It will now be a polygonal particle effect.
  • The player and enemies will now explode with polygonal particles

Description
A bright, top-down space arena shooter with, boss fights, upgradable abilities and weapons. All upgrades are available from the start of the game so you can power up your ship to your liking! But in order to upgrade you've got to defeat increasingly harder enemies and gain points to buy them. Last as long as you can because once you die, it's all over.

That is incorrect, I'm a serious critic that doesn't want bad games to be pushed through the green light when there is still work to be done.

I wouldn't like this on steam, spoke to the author himself which he respond that the message of the game is for children to be addictive to meth/crack.

Very arcade looking! It's like the abstract arcade retro games on steroids!

This game totally ask for one of those usb atari joysticks!
