So you're having trouble with Blood of the Werewolf...

Don't worry, you don't suck at video games. (Or maybe you do) But don't worry, that's why I'm here to help you! I won't promise you won't see the death screen another dozen times, but I will help make your life as a werewolf a little easier so that new players don't fall in the same pitfalls I did.

So without further ado, here are some miscellaneous tips on how to traverse the world of Blood of the Werewolf.
Here we go!
  • First off, unless your computer can handle it, turn everything down to the lowest settings, visuals and framerate. A computer that isn't on fire is a good computer.

  • Second, I recommend making the down and crouch commands the same button. The game will warn you that this configuration might cause problems, but so far I haven't had any issues and it makes the crouching much more intuitive, and the less you have to think about buttons while making split second decisions in this game, the better.

  • Third, take your time before you do any platforming for the first time, plan your route ahead of time and be patient, if it's something that has a pattern to it (ex. fireballs raining down with a specific timing to it) watch it for a few seconds before heading in, because once you're in the fray more often than not one false move will get you to the death screen. In short, be patient.

  • Next, be on the lookout for suspicious places that might house secrets. If you want a guide to where all the secret collectibles are you can go look that up, but for those who want to play it naturally, keep a sharp eye for fireflys, but they don't always appear when there are secrets around, so keep an eye for other marks, like an oddly placed trap. Also, do NOT blow through the game without collecting at least some the hidden power-ups, you'll need the power boosts to keep up with the difficulty spikes.

  • You can use your crossbow while on ladders. Trust me, remembering this little fact will be a godsend later.

  • If you're having trouble with the first boss, let me make it much easier for you right now. Do not use your blood meter, it's unnecessary and puts you in too much danger. Instead, double jump above the line of poison The Creature will crouch down and vomit at you and do a charged attack on his face before retreating and repeating until dead, do not attack it at any other time, dodge the rest of its attacks and wait for that one to strike. This is the safest way to defeat this boss.

  • If you came here because you're having trouble at the end of The Docks... I'm sorry my friend. Just keep on trying.

And that's the most I can do to help, hopefully some of this will be of use to you. Now get out there and save your son!
