We're Greenlit! Woohoo!
Slightly Magic is on Pay What You Want!
Description
What do you do when you get the rights back to a game you spent a year designing and programming in the 1990s?

'Slightly Magic' was a popular game released in the 90s which had rave reviews, and was voted one of the Top 100 Games of All Time by readers of Your Sinclair Magazine.

‘Slightly Magic does what few other games do. It takes a garbage truck full of fun and makes daily deliveries!’ 89% Sinclair User

‘The graphics and presentation are excellent too – full of colour and some nice bits of animation… All in all, Slightly Magic is, well, absolutely ‘magic'' Your Sinclair 94%

Expanding on the arcade adventure style, Slightly Magic was noted for using spells to solve puzzles. Each spell has an ingredient which needs to be combined with the spell to activate it. Run, jump and dodge, collect items and spells, change your form and generally have a fun time in Slightly's world.

The first thing I wanted to do was preserve the original, keeping the graphics but avoiding some of the technical problems that the 8bit computers had, particularly the ZX Spectrum.

The result is this re-creation, lovingly crafted by myself with the original graphics by Chris Graham. Chris was also responsible for the graphics of one of my other games, Rock Star Ate My Hamster.

Allister Brimble was good enough to re-master the original soundtrack, and I recorded a special Director's Commentary which you can choose to listen to while playing the game.

The game's finished on PC, Mac and Linux, and the response so far has been very good. Getting the game on Steam would help fund the 'lost' follow-up, Slightly Spooky, more on which very soon.

Bought this on Indiegamestand, and definitely voted yes! This game reminds me of the Dizzy series, which I would love to see appear on Steam one day too.

Good luck with getting it Greenlit!

I remember playing this on the Spectrum. Looking forward to giving it a go on the PC. Best of luck with the Greenlight and I hope to play Slightly Spooky one day!

No thanks. This doesn't look like a game I'd enjoy very much.
