The Forgotten City

The Forgotten City is a unique experience: a murder mystery investigation in an ancient underground city. You'll travel through time, interrogate suspects, navigate moral dilemmas, fight new enemies, and solve puzzles that reward lateral thinking. It features an original orchestral soundtrack, over 1200 lines of dialogue, and multiple endings.

I'm working on an exciting new game project! It won't be on Steam Workshop, so if you'd like updates about it, please connect with me on Facebook or Twitter or Youtube.

Also, the awesome soundtrack by Trent Moriarty is available here.

"The story here is, no doubt, the best of any Skyrim mod. It's so good, that it really reminds me of Blockbuster movies like Inception, Interstellar, and especially Edge of Tomorrow." MxR Mods

"Amazing... it's a super dynamic story... how the mod utilizes paradoxes and time loops is fantastic... one of the most thriling quests we've ever played..." BroDual

“An undeniably impressive undertaking.” PC Gamer

“The production values, for a mod, are completely ridiculous. The Forgotten City is a pretty big deal.” Kotaku[]

An original orchestral soundtrack by composer Trent Moriarty
Epic, sweeping, cinematic music.

A beautiful, intricately detailed new city to explore
Discover secrets that are thousands of years old.

A haunting, non-linear story with several different endings
Your experience will depend on the decisions you make, as well as your character's individual history.

Challenging moral dilemmas with consequences
Whether you're a saint or a psychopath, or something in between, there will be repercussions.

Puzzles that reward lateral thinking
It will take more than brute force, or blind obedience to quest prompts, to achieve the best outcomes.

Are there any level requirements?
It’s designed for characters at Level 5 and above. The story responds to your character’s individual history, so a high level is recommended.

Do I need to have the other Skyrim expansions or other mods?
No. Only Skyrim is required.

Is it compatible with other mods?
Yes. It should be compatible with most other mods. The only known imcompatibility is Death Mountain 2.

Can I bring a follower?
This mod is designed to be played solo.

I found a bug! What do I do?
Check out the "KNOWN BUGS AND WORKAROUNDS" section in the discussions tab.

If you’re Level 5 or above, you’ll be approached automatically by a courier when you enter any city. Or, go to the "Forgotten Ruins" near Markarth.

This mod was breathtaking - emotionally engaging on a whole new level. Top notch immersion. I bow to all the creators of this mod, truly a masterpiece. A great thank you to Trent Moriarty as well, for excellent ambient music.

Hi it took me a few hours to complete this, and the clues that finally made me relize what i had to at least i thought it was the only way ended up giving me the most evil ending. I roleplay an evil character so he was quite pleased he just wanted to get back to skyrim consequenses be damned (jarls daughter did not deserve to die tho) anyway i ended up killing cassie and her brother for letting me endure all that and give me a shitty neclase. thanks for the mod :)

This was, from beginning to end, an awesome play. I didn't realize at first that it had it's own soundtrack. Lovely soundtrack btw kudos to the composer. IMO this is first rate from beginning to end. I believe it is as good or better then some of the vanilla quests. I must admit to frustration sometimes when i couldn't figure out the puzzle but that is the point right? I despise Brometius (or however you spell his name) would have been nice to lock him up with the horrors for a millenium or two.
Well done! If you have more mods here for skyrim i will play them!

Wow. That was by far one of the best quests I've ever played, in any game. Well done. I wish I could replay it over and over!

Epic MOD. Almost every resident has his/her dark side. It reminds me the TV series Lost.
