Wolfpack, formermy known as HMS Marulken, is a co-op simulation game in which a team of players operate German Type VII U-boat. The game is played over a local network or the internet on PC or Mac. The players connects to a server, where they choose a submarine to serve on. Each submarine has four different stations that need to be manned in order to operate the ship.

The game is set in the second world war, starting in 1939, and the rest of the campaign follows real life events and technological advances leading up to the end of the war in 1945.

The U-boat has the following stations: Captain, Navigator, Chief, and Sonarman.

The captain is the highest ranking member of the crew. The captain's main job is to issue commands to the other crew members. The captain has access to the mission orders, the map and the attack periscope.

GPS was not invented during the second world war, so it is up to the navigator to keep the ship’s position updated on the map. The navigator can use the navigation periscope and a sextant to calculate the ship’s position when the submarine is at periscope depth or higher, but must rely on dead reckoning when the ship is submerged.

The chief is responsible for steering the boat, and also works as the ship's dive officer. The chief controls the ship’s speed, depth and heading, through rudder and diveplane controls.

The sonarman has access to the ship’s sonar, radarwarner, radio, and radio direction finder. When the ship is submerged, the only way for it to sense other ships is by listening on the sonar for engine noises. The radio is to communicate with headquarters and with other ships. The direction finder is used to find the direction of enemy and frienly ships.

Oho, hadn't heard about that. This game is definitely a buy for me, as long as they do not decide to make it VR only.

Identiteettikriisimies: The version at is the unaltered alpha used during the Kickstarter campaign. It is playable in multiplayer, but it does not handle network address translation, so if the host is behind a router you need to play over a VPN. You should be able to play in a LAN and with hosts connected directly to the internet without a VPN solution though.

Wolfpack, the new version of the game, uses Steam's peer to peer protocol to do the connection, so it does not suffer from those problems. Wolfpack is not ready to be released yet, it will be released on Steam later this year.
