Relaunching Dawn of Flight Greenlight
Climb into a biplane or triplane and fight above the "Western Front" in 1917 and 1918. This realistic flight-sim is all action. Fly with a squadron of planes, rescue or ignore other squadrons; attack or defend ground targets, bombers and zeppelins.

Video and screenshots are directly from the game as it exists now (October, 2015). Background music is from one of the in-game music tracks.

- CHOOSE YOUR PLANE: Learn to fly and fight various British, French and German planes, each with its own advantages, difficulties and quirks. Learn how far you can "push" each plane in a turn or dive before it comes apart in midair!

- MASSIVE AIR BATTLES WITH AI: Play in massive air battles, some with over 70 planes, all run by AI except yours. No waiting for online opponents!

- ALL ACTION: Missions are all action. No takeoffs, landings, or boring flights. You start when the enemy is sighted. When mission succeeds (or fails) you can end the action or continue flying as long as you want.

- INFINITE VARIETY FOR EACH BATTLE: Each battle uses procedural generation to vary starting positions, aircraft types and numbers, pilot quality, flight plans, objectives, and more. You can play the same mission hundreds of times and never see the same situation!

- OVER 15 DIFFERENT BATTLES: Participate in over 15 different large scale air battles set in historic battle areas on the Western Front during World War I.

- UNIQUE EXPERIENCES: Each battle has specific victory conditions, from "air superiority" battles between fighters, to ground attacks behind the trench lines, to intercepting or escorting German "Gotha" bombers or high-flying Zeppelins. You can continue the fight as long as you want, including landing afterward.

- ADVANCE TO THE ULTIMATE DOGFIGHT: Advance from novice to a final one-on-one duel against the greatest ace of the war, the "Red" Baron Manfred von Richtofen

- 11 DIFFERENT PLANES: Player flyable planes for launch include:
-- British: Sopwith Camel, SE-5A, Bristol F.2B
-- French: Nieuport 17, Spad VII, Spad XIII
-- German: Fokker Dr.I, Fokker D.VII, Halberstadt CL.II
Gotha G.IV bomber and Zeppelins are AI-operated, including all defensive gun positions.

Dawn of Aces is a "mid-core" flight sim - realistic enough to be challenging for "core" flight sim players, but with basic PC requirements and "straight into the action" gameplay. You don't have to deal with the problems of taking off or landing lightweight planes with extreme engine torque. Instead, you get plenty of mid-air fighting with large numbers of friendly and enemy planes. Compared to earlier versions of "Dawn of Aces" found elsewhere, this game has revised scenarios and bug fixes, as well as a new, lower price on Steam.

The. PC version is nearly done - it will be ready for sale within one month of greenlight approval. Mac conversion is planned - PC version was designed for quick conversion.

The game includes a link to the World War I online arena in the massively multiplayer online service "WarBirds." Once you've mastered the game's infinite variety of solo battles, you can go online to fight with and against other human pilots!

This game should run on any PC able to run games in Windows 7 or later, with a graphics card capable of Dx9 or later. A joystick is recommended - in our testing the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro works perfectly right out of the box (currently available for $29.99 at

There have been very few quality flight sims for WWI that have accessible to the average simmer. The previous versions of this from IE have been pretty good.
