So, yeah. The plan was to go into early access this month. This, of course, followed my previous plan of having it out in March.
Here's the problem: DAWT won a contest.
Usually that wouldn't slow down the dev of a game, however the main prize was a good chunk of money to help running our multiplayer servers. That money has yet to appear.
So now I am faced with a couple options:
1. I can crowdfund. This won't happen because it adds way more time to the release and could end up failing - leaving me in the same position.
2. I can front server costs myself and hope that the sales of the game are good enough to keep me running.
3. I can keep hounding the company that ran the contest and hope that they make good on their promise.
Right now I have been trying solution #3 for a couple months with no success. I don't think they're trying to mess with me, but there is a bunch of internal red tape.
If I don't hear back two weeks I'm going to launch DAWT on my own dime.
There are a bunch of powerups coming. The next demo update will be focusing on adding the structure for them and including a couple. This is one of the things that I think will really make it fun.
