Installing HQ Mods

This guide is to walkthrough the at-first-complicating process of installing HQ mods for your game, although you can and may find many of them on the internet, they are directions for the Origin bought game which is located in a seemingly different area and therefore usless.

Creating .sgr Save Folder

Before you even create a folder on your desktop (Yes desktop, do not Place anywhere else) you must ensure your computer can handle the Very High Sim Detail setting (which is 2560). You must also set your ingame setting to Very High Sim Detail before you exit / get the files for the HQ Mod

You will also have to make sure you have a Extraction Application like WinRAR (which is free, optional payment) or Zip




Before beginning you must first create a spare folder to place your original GraphicsRules file in, I will show you where to find this file later on



You will also have to create another folder to place your HQ mod into

Finding The .sgr File

You will first have to open up your documents and go to Computer > Local Disk
or wherever the heck you downloaded steam onto



Enter your "Games" Folder



Enter Your Steam Folder > Steamapps



Your Common applications



Find your Sims 3 Folder (Yes I know I barely have any games I just completely wiped off all files on my PC)



Enter Game (scroll down a bit) > Bin than you have found your .sgr file





REMEMBER TO SAVE YOUR ORIGINAL GRAPHICSRULES FILE TO THE FOLDER YOU CREATED A WHILE AGO

Replacing Your GraphicsRules

I have multiple HQ mods that I use, but I will be using Dachs in 4096, which is a pretty good HQ level, (lags my game like hell however). Copy your HQ file from that

folder

Just paste your mod into the same exact space you find your GraphicsRules,
then proceed to delete your Original
GraphicsRules



Then you rename your HQ mod file to "GraphicsRules" so that the game will recognize the file and not turn any towns you enter to black and lower your graphical settings

Congratulations, You have Installed An HQ Mod

and yes, as you can see I use a bunch of custom content (I prefer packaged cc instead of simpack which may be the reason my computer lags behind so much)

A Small Warning

Do Not use an HQ mod for constant gameplay unless you are 120% sure that your PC can handle the more intense rendering of Sim Detail, I for example only use Misty (SimsL3gacies) HQ+NOGlow mod for constant gameplay in 3075 as it only lags behind the game by around 5 frames.

I only use Dachs 4096 and Ameenah's (modified to reach) 6144 (highest possible flavor) for short photshoots using the poseplayer and such.

IF you use a flavor higher than your current PC can handle than be prepared to witness some horrifying graphical issues ( well not too horrifying bit prepared for at least some crashes).
