City Vitals Watch

Adds a configurable panel to display vital city stats at a glance.

- Displays real-time stats on service usage, citizen safety, and more (see full stat list below)

- Select the stats you want to watch with the settings panel (click the gear button to bring it up)

- Toggle the panel's visibility with the button in the top left of the screen or with Alt-V (V for "vitals")

- Click on the labels or meters to open the corresponding service menu (works great with Better Budget!)

- The panel is transparent when not hovered by the mouse so it doesn't clutter the view of your city

- Everything but the title is localized by the game so it displays in all supported languages

- Tooltips/hovertext show numeric stats for each displayed meter

- The panel and the toggle button can be dragged wherever you'd like them to be on the screen

Use the settings panel to select the stats you want to watch. The gear button opens the settings panel, and closing it saves and applies changes.

Available stats:

- Electricity availability
- Water availability
- Sewage treatment
- Landfill usage
- Incineration status
- Healthcare availability
- Average health
- Cemetery usage
- Crematorium availability
- Fire hazard
- Crime rate
- Jail availability
- Elementary school availability
- High school availability
- University availability
- Employment rate

Other options:

- Default visibility: Toggles the panel's default visibility when a game is created or loaded

- Transparent unhovered: Toggles whether the panel should be transparent when not hovered by the mouse cursor

Latest Updates

- The panel can now display jail availability

Future Update Plans

These are some stretch goals for this mod. As far as my own use is concerned, the panel is feature complete. However, if I ever get some free time after work I will look into adding the following features:

- Ability to resize panel

- A minimal mode that only displays percents instead of meters

I haven't received a bug report in quite some time, so I consider this mod to be bug free (!) and compatible with all other mods.

Sapphire UI Skins

Unfortunately the incredible Sapphire UI has been abandoned by its author and is no longer compatible with the game. City Vitals Watch was easily skinned so I'll be watching for any future UI skinning framework - let me know if you find one!

Q: Does this mod affect save files?

A: No.

Q: My panel is in a weird position off screen and I can't move it. How can I fix it?

A: Go to the main menu or close the game, then delete the file CityVitalsWatchSettings.xml in the game directory to reset the position of the panel and toggle button.

Q: Some of the meters in the panel are invisible. What happened?

A: This sometimes happens when you hide and unhide the UI and is a known issue with the game's UI framework. The workaround is as follows:

- Open the settings panel and add/remove a display stat.

- Close the settings panel.

- Now all meters should be visible! You can revert the settings change you made.

Q: Will I ever be able to adjust budget values using this mod?

A: No, but clicking on a label or meter opens the corresponding service menu, and you can use Better Budget to adjust budget values there. You can also move the panel to the side and see the effect of budget changes in real-time with the default budget panel open.

Comments? Requests?

Should I add more stats to the panel? What would you like to see?

Thanks to everyone for the continued support and feedback!

Well, @UndergroundHero Thank you for your reply .
I mean
Win10 operating system desktop resolution of 3840x2160
Game settings are also 3840x2160

After entering the game to load your MOD default, but the scale in the background is transparent
Must be set up in the MOD to cancel any monitoring value, then refresh the interface will show normal
So, When I loading game finlish ,I often need to set up mod cancel a detection value, and then set up Reduction of tick
There is a problem, this MOD does not seem to support the winter theme map heating value

@ylb_1027 Could you elaborate on what you mean? What shading is disappearing?

I want this mod but the window looks like it will take up a lot of space. Is there any way that you can make it smaller, perhaps using icons or text that changes color?

Sorry, and a water reservoir bar also.

Any chance of adding a heat generation bar? I love this mod, but that one seems to be not there.

Hey thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Right after I had sent in my request, I noticed the hover over option (sorry about that). Do you think the hover info could give percentage available?

I can see the tackiness of the color changing now that I think more about it. I know the RCI is in the main view, but my eyes are always geared towards looking at City Vitals over the defaults. I think it would just encompass all the things that we monitor in our cities as we move along.

I'm really super happy about being able to go right into the data maps from clicking on the bar. Overall, this mod is just amazing as I said before. So anything you can do is wonderful, do you have a paypal or anything I could shoot you some cash?

@xKernalSandersx Glad you like the mod so much! :) Regarding your requests:

- You can already hover over the bars to get a tooltips displaying the exact values (X / Y).
- In a very early prototype I had the text colors change depending on service availability, but it looked tacky in practice (most of the time it's just green text). I prefer sticking to the UX of the default interface.
- Vertical space is a concern here, but I may make this an option in the future.
- RCI demand is always visible to the user in the default UI. I don't know if the game exposes this info in a way that lends itself to a X% status bar, but if so I may add it in the future.

Thanks for the feedback!

I had to reinstall my game and this is always the first mod I get - can't live without it!

That said - I was wondering if there could be a couple additions to this? New to coding myself, so I have no idea if these are wild requests:

- Hover over service, have the bar display the total used vs. available as number or percentage:
Water: 103000/160000 -or-
Water: 35%
- Making the service type name change color based on the percentage available (if slider bar is in the green, text is green - if slider bar is in the red, text is red, etc.)
- Under each service add a new line (smaller text) with percentage available
- Add in Residential, Commercial and Industrial demands

I don't understand enough about coding yet to tinker myself, but wondering if those could be considered. Thanks for the best mod in the game!
