Description
Eden circulair city project

I tried to make a circulair city for a little project, to see how traffic flow when you lay down your infrastructure in a more strategic point of few. Making large circulair roads in this game perfect is a hard thing to do. So I did my best measering it out with different methods. But at some parts I was too bothered to redo them over and over again.

Still the city design is working well beyond my expectations. There is still much to do to make it an even more effecient. But the layout (they are still in my head) is there and further work will probably result in the most beautifull city I've built in a game so far.

PS: The on/off ramps on the outer highway ring needs attention. Have to figure out a main way to bring traffic into the centre of the city.

PPS: If you like this idea of combining efficiency and aesthetic into a city design, please vote up, and possibly share yours aswell :)

@patrickmorriss : I might, although not sure if I will continue further down this city itself, the design has some flaws. Newer versions i've been playing arround with has also + and - for the roads, like 2 coming in and 2 coming out. Also I noticed that the outer ring high way tends to break when making offsprings of the bigger circle-roads. But I will keep posting cities with an interesting design. To maximize effiency but keep symetrical aesthetics.

Very nice - I love the "Venus Project" type circular style cities. I like the way you have a large central area with offshoot smaller circular areas - seems to work quite well! Will you upload future versions?

@Czeslaw, yes that is correct and neither the subway yet... city is far from finished. And since subway and busses are a bit easier to put in that highways, big lanes and railroad. I havn''t bothered to put them in yet.

@Orbital Softdrink, Yes yes I had exacly the same, offcourse in the beginning you have to put something simplicistic in, but as soon as the cash startsto flow in you easily shift the shapes and forms a bit.. But pre-planning major infrastructure is key... I regret I haven't put in a one-way system in the inner circles.

@slcowden, Nice I will take a look when I have the time for it :)

taking inspirations from the smokeless slumless cities design and from the venus project i also made a design that resemles this one and itamazes me how efficient it is. it actualy made the game to easy for me. but it's quite interesting to experiment with

I am also working on building a city made of a series of radial grid sectors much like what you have done. I looked at your city and it definitey gave me some good ideas for my own. Thank you for sharing.
