Crew Stats
You've no doubt noticed you can hire/fire crew and wonder what all their stats mean. Ubisoft deleted my post from the official forums so here they are again on steam.

These stats range from 0.0 to 1.0. taken directly from the game files they show you how much that stat will impact their performance in that compartment. I've removed all the 0.0's from the list because they do nothing for that compartment. you may or may not understand what these mean.

here's an example.. the Engine Room it shows Mechanical and Electrical. These stats will get you the most out of the engine room if your crew have a high value in both these stats. the game has built in hard limits to how well the submarine can run but they can keep the sub running at peak condition .

Damage Control Room favors the Engine Specialization Qualification. for those who get damaged often, put a Engine specialist as your Damage Control leader.

Deck Watch I recommend going purely for the highest watchmen here.
Mechanical 0.2
Electric 0.2
Guns 0.2
Watchman 1.0

Torpedo Room
Mechanical 0.5
Guns 0.5

Engine Room
Mechanical 0.6
Electric 0.4

Control Room
Mechanical 0.4
Electric 0.2
Watchman 0.4

Conning Tower these guys will be operating the sonar. watchman should be primary stat here.
Electric 0.5
Watchman 0.5

Damage Control Team
Mechanical 0.4
Electric 0.4
Guns 0.2

Aft/Bow Deck Cannon I recommend the GUNS stat for both this and AA gun.
Mechanical 0.5
Electric 0.5
Guns 0.2
Watchman 0.5

AA Gun see above
Mechanical 0.2
Guns 0.5
Watchman 0.5

for the AA gun and deck Cannon you can try and go for Mechanical and Electrical stats. but I've not seen any real performance difference as compared to just having really high guns stat.. higher Guns stat reloads the guns faster. unsure if it improves their aim.

Putting a note here. The Leadership skill wasn't listed in the file I was looking through for the other stats. They could be listed somewhere else. if I had to guess it would largely only effect Leader slots the largest slot in each compartment.

If you know something I don't about crew stats please let me know and please be able to provide proof, and I'll add it to the guide.

For me and a RL submarine veteran, I insure at least two rated crewmen are on watch at all times, the most experienced crew with the least experienced.. at least a chief. The rest of the slots are filled with non-quals. When going to battle stations, the entire compartment goes to peak effeciency anyway.

I've read that the entire compartment's efficiency is multiplied by a factor based on the leader's leadership stat. There's also a similar factor based on those in the control room. For the absolute straight skinny, read the forums over at subsim.com . They are the REAL devotees to this game.
