Description
Changes the size of hexes to stay the same no matter how many hexes you put in a design. It is balanced so all ships are assumed to have 20 hexes. It is not balanced so 20 hex ships are the optimal size, I just found that it provided values fairly close to the original. You can make ships that have 40 hexes that will be twice as good and cost twice as much.

Hmm.... I'll ask here, as I think you already know how to do this: Is there a way to make the game not care if you have all 64/128 hexes filled ?


Right now I have to design a fighter using all 64 hexes or i lose efficiency. I'd like to design a fighter using just 10 hexes and be as efficient as a 64 hex one....

The main game implemented the changes I made in this mod (around 6 months ago) so there is no point to install this mod.

Is this mod not compatible with the latest version of the game ? Because my game fails to load the starting screen after i activate this mod (only).....

Well it might be late to answer but still - my point is - while the GRID for larger ships has higher technical limit, I asked wether you could impse external limit to hexes, not connected with actual GRID, in order to force designs not to use 'block' shape filling everything...

There is a hex limit. Larger ships have a larger hex limit.

Wouldn't it be possible to either add external hex limit, or even easier - make so that each subsequent hex increases price non-linearily? i.e. it becomes more profitable to just increase scale than to add further [same] hex?

It's not actually balanced towards 20 hex ships. 40 hex ships are twice as powerful. It's just that it provides values for things that are fairly close to vanilla.

I had intended to do something like this, but without encouraging people to just make Borg cube after Borg cube. (Which your mod is bound to do, judging from the fact that you specifically pointed out that it's balanced towards 20-hex ships.)
