Conway's Game of Life

"The Game of Life, also known simply as Life, is a cellular automaton devised by the British mathematician John Horton Conway in 1970.

The "game" is a zero-player game, meaning that its evolution is determined by its initial state, requiring no further input. One interacts with the Game of Life by creating an initial configuration and observing how it evolves or, for advanced players, by creating patterns with particular properties."

This is a Conway's Game of Life simulator built for Contraption Maker (limited to a 20x20 grid), made possible thanks to the new Javascript modding API.

Instructions are shown on screen: Once you hit the start button, move the cursor (represented by the red arrows) and press space bar to set a cell to dead/alive. Cells with life are represented by lit red colored blocks. Then, you may start the game anytime by pressing S. Watch as the cells reproduce and make pretty patterns. :) That is, until they're all dead.

There are some nice examples of patterns in the Wikipedia article linked above, try checking it out and building them!

You may freely view and edit all the code in this mod by downloading it as an editable contraption. It's not that clean, though. Enjoy!
