ESC Mode info update!
ESC Game Mode is on the way!
Release date: Fourth Quarter 2014
How many rings can you get before the pillars get you?

Fly a paper airplane through rings in an endlessly generated landscape -- The difficulty gradually rises as you collect rings -- at 50 rings the game can no longer be called casual, there's no way you're reaching 100 rings if you're half-awake, and after 150 rings you'll be too busy dodging the crushing pillars to curse the game!

At the same time, you'll have to maintain your airspeed to avoid stalling and try not to get disoriented, especially if your plane is upside down or sideways!

  • Supports most HID-compliant gamepads (controls can be remapped for non-xbox controllers), XBox Controller (with rumble on PC!)
  • Those without gamepads can use the keyboard. My current high score is 267 and I got it using the keyboard controls, so you're not missing out!
  • I'll be adding an "Escape" game mode where you fly through a collapsing building -- getting rings will boost you faster so you can outrun the collapse!
  • I plan to price it at $1 (unless it's below the Steam minimum)

Try stratO on the web right now!

It's already out on Android and soon, OSX and iOS!

@lemec, ahah! The one thing I didn't play with. Thanks for the help.

@Sgt.Psycho: Key binding is accessible in-game when you pause it (click the pause button or hit SPACE)

Second button from the bottom will open the controls options.

You can individually turn on/off keyboard/gamepad

You can select the control to map by click+sideways-drag the center of the screen.

The big bottom button lets you capture+assign keys/buttons to the control.

@lemec. PS, this was on the Unity web demo. There's no key binding option there that I can see.

@lemec, thanks! Also I didn't think about it at the time, but I used JoyTo Key[] for Risk of Rain and that would fix up that issue perfectly as well.

@Sgt.Psycho: fixed the problem with J/L not working, though you'll have to rebind them manually (via Rudder L(alt) and Rudder R(alt)) in the keyboard options.

Also the web version does support gamepads (and they can be remapped)

I found this both cool and infuriating, with keyboard anyway (L doesn't work, so you can't split rudder/ailerons into either left/right, nor pitch/yaw control groupings) this would probably be fine if used with a touch screen as intended, or a controller using two analogue sticks.

Looks like a very simple yet aesthetically pleasing game. It looks great for the purpose playing for a few minutes at a time, especially when you need a break. If you all wanted to further develop this little app I would love the see the 'pings' heard when going through the rings coordinate with the music a bit more, and maybe have some more variations in scenery as the game progresses.
