Survivors P1

Every game you will start with 3-5 survivors, all with randomized stats. Keeping this group alive is essential to surviving this phase of the game. Losing just one Survivor during this phase could result in major setbacks. On higher difficulties, we imagine this phase to work a bit like a roguelike, re-rolling your party until you survive long enough to find a manageable neighbourhood.

After you have established a home base, you will meet other camps, both minor and major. Minor camps are typically small and easy to conquer. Completing requests for these camps will often convince them to join your camp, or simply crush them using your military.

Survivors held by major camp leaders--like Augustus, Dondrea or Linus--will require a little more convincing to join you. Survivors with low loyalty to their home camp may choose your camp as a new home. You can also capture and potentially convert opposing survivors by having a Warden, a survivor that convinces others to join you. Depending on their loyalty to their old faction, and the skill of your warden, this could take quite a while or no time at all.

Survivors have a number of statistics that can change throughout gameplay (variable), and another set that are randomized (set) at the beginning of the game.

Variable Statistics

Although these are variable during play, their maximum value is set at the beginning of the game.

Health - how much damage a survivor can take before dying / turning
Energy - how long a survivor can keep working at a leisurely pace before needing sleep
Physical - how long can a survivor perform hard work before needing to catch their breath

Bravery - how likely a survivor will keep fighting in unfavourable conditions
Loyalty - how likely a survivor is to join another faction
Happiness - how well a survivor's needs are being satisfied

Hunger - how long before a survivor needs their next meal
Thirst - how long before a survivor needs to drink
Vice - how long before a survivor indulges in their addiction of choice
Social - how long before I go insane having no one to talk to

Set Statistics

Sight Range - how far a survivor can see into the fog of war
Capacity - how many items a survivor can carry
Stealth Range - how quiet a survivor is when sneaking
Move Speed - how fast a survivor is while running
Ranged Accuracy - how likely you are to hit with bullets or arrows
Melee Accuracy - how likely you are to land a solid hit with a melee weapon

Weaknesses are also randomized for each survivor, although you will have more perks than weaknesses. Some example weaknesses include:

Hemophobic: reduces health restored by first aid actions
Pessimist: happiness increasers are less effective and loyalty decreasers are more effective
Flortician: reduces yield from gardens you tend.

Leaders - The Governors
Augustus Blacks

Linus Wolfe

Dondrea Allen

So if you have read this far you are clearly really interested in Zone 416. However, full-time development and a swift release isn't guaranteed unless we have the necessary funds. Thus our Kickstarter campaign, we are asking for 25k mostly to hire a 3D artist and cover our low monthly operating costs. So if you are really interested in seeing this game come to fruition, head on over to Kickstarter and show Zone 416 some love. We have early-bird discounts and great reward tiers that will benefit you as well.

Thanks Ricky :)
