Run Master Levels on Windows 8 (vanilla)
By Arc0re
Most of people on W8 failed to run the game, or it is laggy, etc... I learn how to fix it on the Doom II compatibility guide on Steam, and apply it on Master Levels.

1 - Go on the game's files by right-clicking the name of the game on your Steam library, and put doom2.exe on windows 95 compatibility. (On the doom2 file)

2 - Edit dosbox.cfg : open it with the notepad, find the line waitonerror and change it on "false" (it is on "true" by default).

3 - Then, save, close, and edit the master.cfg : fullscreen to "false", fulldouble to "false" and waitonerror to "false". Save, close. And run the game ;) (if the game is windowed, alt+enter)

--> If you are annoyed by the mouse movement (when you slide the mouse forward, your character go forward), search on the Doom 2 guide about that : it is really simple and, as this method (for running Doom games on W8) works for every Doom game. Basically, you download a .zip, "novert", unzip it, put it in the base folder of each Doom and modify one command line on the master.cfg, the tntm.cfg, the plutoniam.cfg, etc... Look for the guide. (m is for mouse.)

On Steam, you can do a right click on your game, --> properties, local game files. (I'm not sure about the names, as my Steam isn't in English). Or you can search in your Steam file ( Default : C:ProgramFiles\Steam\SteamApps\Common -->Here are your files.)
Next, to open a .cfg, right click on it and select 'open with', then select the notepad.
Master.cfg is only on the file of Masters Levels... I will edit the guide, sorry, I didn't think that it is not obvious for many people to do these :S
PS : If you still can't open .cfg files, open separately the Notepad, take the .cfg file and drop it on the notepad open window.
