Dustec - Aztec/Dust2

The terrorists are tired of losing in Aztec so they've broken out of that map to this alternate universe. Unprepared, the terrorists decide that the Temple of A and the Trashbin of B are perfect targets. They scribble out some notes to get prepared for the bombing.

I took the layout of de_dust2, mirrored it, and made it into the style of de_aztec as a styling challenge/mapping practice for myself.

-- Apparently I should point out that nothing but a couple decals are of my own creation.
I've learned that a similarily named map "de_dustec" was a WIP map from 1.6, however, no progress from that author has been made in several years. Apologies to fanatictoxic of GameBanana, if you are looking for your name back, things can be easily arranged.
The layout of Dust 2 is not my creation; the idea of flipping the map is also not my original idea, and again, has been done in 1.6 (and CS:GO). Credit to Valve and those who flipped it first.
The assets of Aztec (models, textures, etc.) and in no way my creation. All credit to Valve/CSGO Devs etc. --

This map was amazing. I like the idea of having it flipped, giving everyone a kind of disorientation at first. I love playing on Dust 2, but sometimes, I get bored of the Middle-Eastern environment, and this solves it by adding the Aztec textures. The only downside is that the Terrorists can sometimes blend into the environment and make them difficult to see.

I found a decompiler online and decompiled dust2, the problem is quite often the decompile generates many errors. To avoid that I would copy brushes and displacements from dust2 to my map and put them in the same coordinates as the other map. I then would make new brush work around what I copied myself. Often I only copied the corners and doorways and would then build all the other walls around them.
hi Apr 16 @ 6:53pm
hey again
what do you mean when you said you "traced over the main corners and walls in my map"? i wanna try remaking a map like you did. :)

G4L4H4D; I'd love to, but I won't be promising anything. I've gone back to school, and haven't had time to put into maps recently. I'll work on what I can, and I do like your idea, but I can't promise <3

This map is amazing!
Is it possible to do other combinations/flipping of maps? T
he concept is brillant and i would enjoy being able to run around a dust themed inverted inferno.
Thank you again for the great map!

As I asked before can there be a non inverted version of this map? I love it.

I basically took dust2, decompiled it, and traced over the main corners and walls in my map, remaking it with textures and models from azetc.

If you're wondering mapping overall, you can give a google for "hammer tutorial" to learn about the map editor for the source engine. I'll namedrop for TopHattWaffle, he's got a great series of tutorials from just beginning to more advanced tips and tricks.
