Interleave VR Mark 1 - Announcement Trailer
Interleave VR Development Experiment (Video)
Description
Release date: Late 2016
A once famous and extremely profitable Space Defense Contractor goes into decline over the years. As bankrupcy approaches reality like a freight train, the founder of the space contractor gets desperate, hoping to put his company back into the spotlight it once had, and launches an incredibly ambitious and dangerous mission using all the funds left in his company's bank account: almost nothing. He converts his old method of transportation (an ordinary luxury family passenger spacecraft) into a machine of war by strapping partile weapons systems and armors on it, hires a pilot on the cheap (you) and ventures into something... something that will turn out to be far more than the contractor can chew on!

Preliminary demo:

*This demo is a precursor to the development of the actual game. While some elements will be preserved the final codebase will be produced with more sturdy direction as we finally put together the pieces of the gameplay, story and so forth.

Interleave VR is a fantasy shoot 'em up for the Oculus Rift that introduces a unique VR-specific mechanic allowing for the comfortable use of third person view in fully immersive virtual reality. While the game's basics are simple and intuitive - akin to playing Starfox, Nano Assault or Kid Icarus Uprising - the inner workings are designed exclusively for VR, providing a third person view concept that won't cause motion sickness even in the most sensitive of players and thus ensuring intense, sustained gameplay against relentless enemies, through obstacles and goals.

In addition to introducing a brand new VR third-person mechanic, the Interleave VR Preliminary Demo is charged with above-par graphics, cool spaceship models, in-game dialogue and the added punch of a driving soundtrack!

Interleave VR is a free preliminary demo for now. This demo will be further ramped up with more content. Coming winter 2014-15 development of the full game - off a clean slate - will begin. The plan is to go for a 5-level shoot 'em up with story elements and transition segments between levels like the subspace tunnel.

Only slight degrees of vehicular nudity... naked spaceships. Possibly a look inside the ship's cabin.... mmmmm you know you like!

Played it, loved it, greenlighted it. Works perfectly fine on DK2.

Given some DK2 users on Radeon GPU's were getting issues with DX9 in the VR version, the VR demo has been updated to run with DX11 by default. Hope that allows more folks to give the concept build of Interleave VR a shot!

@budwheizzah Okay, fair enough. In any case, making a game is tough, good luck!
