Thanks and some info
  1. this is only a prototype, far far away from the final game. Basically it's a test for the game play and the basic functions of the engine;
  2. The trailer quality is quite orrible, the real thing is a lot nicer :). I should be able to add a new video fullHd in the next week;
  3. the menus are in english but they will be translated in other languages for the release version;
  4. currently I'm working on PC and Mac but the code is fully cross platform so there shouldn't be problems for a Linux version

I need beta tester!!!
You cant download the test version at this address:
Big Bad Loop []

Release date: End 2014

Test level released: Download link []

The concept

Torsion is a shoot'em up arcade game with all the classics (huge waves of enemies, a lot of weapons and final bosses).
The game is a 'tube shooter' in which the action is presented in a forced 3D perspective.
It's the same perspective used by Gyruss with a significant difference: the camera is fixed on the player's ship and it's all the universe that turns around.
The idea is to port the 80' arcade classics to a pseudo 3D world.

The features

  • 3 different ships
  • 3 difficulty levels
  • 7 worlds
  • 10 levels per world
  • 2 player on the same machine in cooperative mode (with split screen)

The development

Big Bad Loop is a one man team.
Except sounds, eveything else is my own duty.

  • basic render/physic engine
  • basic input system
  • sound system
  • full gameplay cycle
  • menu interface

To do
  • better rendering
  • full level design (with final bosses)
  • 2 player support
  • ...and much more

The engine

Torsion is based a custom build engine named atom engine
This engine uses molecular structures to handle rendering and physics.
Each object is composed of one or more molecules and each molecule is composed of one or more atoms.
The final result is that everything in the game is made by aggregations of spheres.

It looks like the game on GTA San Andreas, that you play on CJ's tv. WOuld be a nice free game but would never spend money on it

If it's only a prototype, Greenlight is probably not the place for it. Also, it looks like it would be really hard to tell what's a star and what's an enemy.
