Dark With Extra Light (abbreviated 'DWEL') is a 2D platforming side-scroller in which the flashlight wielding protagonist must traverse diverse environments and escape various nightmares. DWEL offers players a new and exciting take on the platforming formula by utilising dynamic lighting mechanics.

The environment reacts to lighting with various types of platforms. These platforms include moving, bouncing, sliding and some which disappear when light is not shone on them. Additionally the game includes lights with varying properties and an array of different enemies to tackle, adding depth to gameplay.

The current build of DWEL is in BETA, and there is still lots to be added. The ultimate aim is for a full release on mobile platforms (iOS/Android) via their app stores as well as desktop platforms (PC/Mac/Linux) via Steam - which if greenlit will have additional "beast" mode for greatly increased difficulty (and bragging rights).

At first it looked like there was going to be a little charm with the pictures, but the video just turned off any switches for a good game. DWEL is simply expanding on a platform twist that has been done many times (say, Super Mario with the Boo Mansions) and while fun for a little bit, gets stale and repeatitve very fast.

I'm glad this project was axed, as your team could be spending effort elsewhere and hopefully come up with some fantastic ideas.

If you step on them in the dark then you would fall through and die. That's what i gathered.

"some which disappear when light is not shone on them" doesn't... everything disappear in the dark?

Nice game!

ok, a jumping game, kinda flash-like
I will give it a no, that jumping sound would drive me insane before the end of the first level, if it is not endless
the idea is ok, but not at all interesting, not for steam, at least
if you can polish the game a little bit, you might take it to iOS and Android...
but take your time, don't rush the game, if you polish it well, it might make a decent cell phone game

This will probably run on Windows 95, right? The graphics are almost as good as Solitaire for Windows 3.1, so I hope it will run on my Windows 95 Compaq Presario.
