Hard Rain Demo Available
Description
Release date: FALL 2014
Hard Rain is a pachinko machine physics sim made into a tower defense-like strategy/puzzler hybrid with a retro-analogue candy shell.

Grab the latest demo from the IndieDB page link to the right.

The hard rain is falling. To avoid a drain overflow you must devise a strategy to manipulate the flow, and construct a defense by mixing elements of the three base types of components - FIELD, SOLID, and FORCE. As the waves of rain intensify in strength you must evolve your defense with ingenuity to meet the challenge.

The ‘retro-analogue’ aesthetic of the game is inspired by media made with analogue and early digital electronics of past decades, like slit-scan film effects, analogue synths, primitive computer vector drawing, and vintage arcade cabinet sounds.

Features:

- Highly optimized engine allows for realistic 2D physics with many hundreds of dynamically simulated objects at high frame rates.
- Retro-analogue styled graphics bathed in a warm cathode-ray tube glow.
- Original EDM soundtrack and sound effects powered by FM synthesis.
- Multiple modes of challenging tower defense / physics puzzler hybrid gameplay.

The platform of choice is PC / Mac with the larger screen sizes. It could be released for tablets down the road though.

Seems like an interesting take on the tower defense genre, but I see this having more success as a mobile game.
