The idea sounds great! I`m waiting for the final product. I hope there will be a paired phone app to link with and synchronize.

Yes and no. You will be assigned a migrating address from with which to text from and to. The difference between DeskTalk and simply emailing to a phone is that, when emailing a phone, in most cases, your email will be damaged, malformatted, and missing all but a small section of your message. This is due to the differences between SMS and SMTP Protocol. When manually emailing a phone, it is up to you, the user, to ensure that all, not some, of your message gets through. With DeskTalk, your messages are ensured to be intact, complete, and well suited for mobile phones.

does this give you an actual number which the person you text will see and reply to? If not how is this different from just sending an email to a cell phone?
