Gauntlet Meets Tower Defense

Soulcaster started as an experiment to see how well dungeon crawling would pair with tactical tower defense. The result (after much testing and many iterations) is something really special, if I do say so myself.

You may have played Escape Goat, or its sequel, which just came out on Steam. I'm proud to present the spiritual ancestors to these games, which have nothing to do with goats--but I am certain you will still have a great time with them. Soulcaster was one of the most beloved Xbox Live Indie Games, back in the early days of XNA, resting in the top 20 rated games on the service for many months. Brought to PC in 2012, it's now time to bring these games to Steam.

Let me tell you a bit about the Soulcaster world.

Journey into a forgotten land and reawaken the souls of three immortal guardians: Shaedu, the archer; Bloodfire, the alchemist; and Aeox, the warrior. Summon them at tactical locations to fend off and destroy the hordes of relentless foes you will face. Picking the who to summon, and where, is crucial: Shaedu can fire arrows across rivers, but not through walls. Bloodfire's firebombs won't be stopped by walls, but because of their slowness, fast-moving enemies will easily slip past them. Aeox does a great job holding the line at choke points--but beware, he goes down quickly if surrounded. The possibilities of summon combinations are endless, and every player develops a unique play style. Your second time through will be a totally different experience, also!

Did I mention there is an RPG-style upgrade mechanic?

The merchant also has heavy metal music.

I could go on, but it's best just to watch the videos.

Soulcaster: Book I & II is a two-part adventure, featuring dozens of maps and challenge rooms. Your vote can help these games get on Steam, where they belong! Thank you for reading, and please leave comments--I will try to respond when I can.

Oh wow, I didn't realize this hadn't been greenlit. It was great fun on XBLA, and I wouldn't mind being able to own it here.

Thanks for the kind comments Silarith! I'll push for this GL campaign a little more when current projects get closer to completion.

Played both Soulcaster games on Xbox Live and they were fantastic. Fairly short, but well-designed with interesting gameplay and some of the best game music I've ever heard. Upvoted in the hopes that even more folks get to experience them.
