Minocra focuses on a fast, easy-to-learn, gameplay driven heavily on its story. The story is really the driving point, character interactions and plot points change depending on what the player has done, said, and accomplished. Story and character development is neglected from most platformer games which sets Minocra apart. It takes the dynamic interactions between character abilities and benefits to solve puzzles, find secrets, find treasure, and dictate the approach the player will take to defeat bosses and enemies. How the player chooses to solve puzzles, and obstacles, has an effect on levels, storyline, and character relationship.

On a regular day in the quiet town of Minocra, Minerboy awakens to an empty house. His father is no where to be found. With an unsettling feeling in his gut, Minerboy and his outcast friend, Minergirl(names yet to be decided), go on a search for his father only to discover much more. This once proud, confident boy with his loner, sensible friend soon find themselves as the only hope for their town, family, and friends.

Minocra is currently in development by Alyson & Joe Productions. The main game elements have been prototyped: the introduction level playable. We have a first-look trailer and screenshots. This game is a work in progress.

You can find, and like, us on Facebook.

Minocra takes place in an old fashion world, where each community and town are specialized in a unique way to provide and support themselves. The attitudes and visuals vary depending on the backbone, beliefs, and resources of the location. The game will take the player through Minocra, to caves, to towns, through forests, and dungeons.

Game Progression:
The action moves through various levels and environments as the player progresses through the game. Level length varies on the degree of completion the player takes. This can vary from player to player as well as the level itself. For the most rewarding gameplay experience, story, and character development, the player is recommended to attempt, find, and complete as many secrets and puzzles as possible. Not all levels are equal in terms of length and gameplay elements; the first level may have you jumping and running while the second takes a dramatic turn into a race against time or a challenging puzzle level.

  • Switch between playing two characters, each one having unique benefits that compliment the other. Minergirl has a default weapon that is ranged and does less damage compared to Minerboy's short ranged axe. Minerboy takes an abrasive path to problem solving while Minergirl takes a thought out, delicate approach.
  • Multiple & different boss fights requiring individual strategies.
  • Levels with secrets and collectable treasures. Collectable treasures used to solve puzzles, create items, fix vehicles, and unlock areas of a bonus level.
  • Vehicles are parts of level mechanics. They have yet to be implemented. The vehicles importance, in certain levels, are not only new gameplay elements, but offer new ways to progress.
  • Character interaction affecting character relationships and minor sub plots. How do you feel about Minergirl? Do you hate her? Do you love her? Is your romance budding, are you just "friends," or does she get on your nerves?
  • Mini-games and puzzles. Some obstacles require the completion of puzzles. Some bonus will be rewarded for the successful completion of mini-games.
  • Dynamic HUD that reacts with what is going on in the level. Whether it be the player taking damage or the unsuccessful use of a limited weapon.

About the Characters:
*The characters have yet to be named. *
Minerboy is an energetic, rough-around-the-edges-type boy. His energy and enthusiasm often lead him into trouble, he generally breaks everything he touches. He's never one to admit being wrong and will follow his mistakes to the end. Growing up in a mine-centric town he has excelled at his job in the mines, working with his dad. His axe, an heirloom past on in his family, is the pride of his achievements. While he craves the adventure, deep down he's content with his small town obligations and lifestyle.

Minergirl is lighthearted, curious, and slightly introverted. Being orphaned from a young age she's been the outcast of Minocra. Living in a small town, alone, she has hardly made a living as a creator for mining equipment, and repairs. While many townsfolk believe she should be spending her time doing something more in tune to her gender. She's a brilliant creator, and can fix just about anything broken. Her best and only friend, Minerboy, is the only reason she remains in Minocra. She dreams of the day she will leaves the town.

Check back with us and see our progress! We appreciate all the comments. A gameplay video will be added soon.

FAQs & concerns:
  • Where is the Linux support?
Our resources are limited, we will certainly keep it in mind and look into it.

  • Other supported languages?
At the moment, we only have English supported. It comes back to resources.

  • Why is it so zoomed in?
The game isn't 'zoomed' in, as it does in the early parts of the trailer. The screenshots are the actual look -minus the HUD. We are working on a new gameplay video that shows the proper viewable space.

cool artstyle. Looks like it could be funny (Rocks! Gophers!) and frustrating with all of the jumping and not being able to see where you're going. Yes. It looks like it has plenty of potential.

I like the idea of all the players actions and interactions affecting the story but I simply can't the trailer seriously. It genuinly looks like a parody trailer for a bad film and those are made to take the mick out of the film, not to market it.
