We are on Greenlight and Kickstarter!
Release date: Fourth quarter 2015
Make sure to check our Kickstarter page! There's a special "Early Bird" offer, furthermore, Kickstarter version of the game will be shipped with some extra content!

River Town is a single-player rural-themed Role Play inspired by the classics, such as Harvest Moon, The Sims or Rune Escape. In River Town player comes into possession of a farm, and can populate his little rancho with a variety of animals, pets or crops. The town is settled by villagers with highly contrasting personalities, making the game an engaging combination of farming and social experience. What is unique about River Town is that player can create their own script about what they want to happen, with whom and when. Every action a character does affects not only him but all people around as well, which might lead to some crazy stuff!

For a full feature set please visit our Kickstarter page.

  • Crops - Choose from a wide variety of plants (fruits, vegetables, flowers) and trees to populate your farm. Some of them are required to be seeded only at a certain season, while others need a hothous.
  • Animals - Buy, feed, breed and take care of your farm animals.
  • Pets - Several pets to take care of. Some pets have special functions - dog, for instance, might help you with keeping wild animals away.
  • Villagers - Every single person living in River Town is entirely unique and introduces different storyline. Some villagers might find you inspiring to change their behaviour and goals, some might try to avoid you, while some others even attempt to stalk you if they are extremely amazed by your person. They behave differently towards you as a stranger or a best friend, so take that into account.
  • Date & Marry - Finding a second half is a strong part of the River Town storyline. It's possible to date, propose, marry, live together and finally raise a child.
  • Festivals - Each season brings a set of different festivals organised by the town population. Participation in these might be a great chance to integrate with villagers or win precious prizes.
  • Cooking - Discover new meals by watching TV series in your TV or experiment on your own. Serve your dishes for a dinner, share it with others or participate in cooking contests.

What makes it special?
  • Game Design - The game is designed thoroughly with the highest attention to detail. We aim to provide a true farming and social experience through audio & visual effects, 3D animations and deep dialogues.

  • Freedom - That's our favourite. River Town gives you a free hand on what would you like to do, and how you want to play. Possibilities of River Town fall far beyond farming, giving you a freedom to experiment, try and error.

  • Unpredictability - Our main principle is to make every single day in River Town special. Every in-game day might bring a new adventure, relationship, gossip or argument.

  • Devil is in the details - There are many features not seen on the face of it, but believe us, they make River Town more deep and engaging. Few instances: sending letters to others, hiring people to help you with your farm, getting drunk, working part-time and much, much more.

Please note: Many of the assets used for the screenshots or the video are placeholders for an actual art. These will be replaced by even more stunning models along with further development. River Town is currently in pre-alpha stage and does not exhibit full quality of the final product.

Is this a FarmVille clone?

Well, comparing River Town to Farmville is pretty much like comparing Elvis Presley to Justin Bieber.
But if you need more in-depth explanation, here it comes. Farmville is a casual browser game that requires from the user to perform certain activities (like inviting friends in order to speed up the progress and such) and get better score. Furthermore, there is no actual storyline, no characters, dialogues – which means (in our opinion), no fun. River Town, on the other hand, is a single player game with deep story, characters, awesome animals and town – and does not expect from the player anything but having a great fun.

How will it differentiate from other "Harvest Moon games"?

Well, back in my days, I used to play Harvest Moon: Back To Nature a LOT, thus it is no surprise, that you have found both Harvest Moon and River Town quite similar in some areas.
But that does not mean River Town is a shameless copy of the glorious HM series. While Harvest Moon was indeed a great title, there were couple of things that I wish they were implement, such as deeper “management” part of the game, with a focus on farm finances, expanded relationship system, and the most importantly, more space for user input.
River Town’s intention is to create an environment for the player to shape and create his own, little world. Player will be able to hang out with villagers closest to his heart, or make arguments with the ones who deserve it. There’s no right or wrong way to play the game. Think of River Town as a huge sandbox that lets the player to unleash his creativity.
