Chilie -50% (1.99€) on Desura!
Video review of Chilie
Release date: 2014 April
The artists collective "The icehouse" is pleased to introduce the new PC game by Beckoning Cat: Chilie, an happy puzzle and brain-training game based on maths and reflexes, with a funny scripted story. Chilie is the name of a curious little girl with red hair who really loves red pepper and does anything she wants to (even if it's crazy). She has met a young man who took her under his protection after her mother disapeared, and they both travel together to find her. In a fancy Chinese world, made of cute graphics in cell-shading, you will follow the adventures of Chilie and her guardian, on the road again to search for clues. This interactive story will take you in their everyday life, full of comical situations, where you'll have to solve math-puzzles to progress in the game. You could say that Chilie is a count'n click game. It was created by a single person with no funds, Yves, so if you like what you see, please support his work to ensure he keeps making new games in the future!

✔ A funny interactive story, reminding mangas like Yotsuba&! or Hare+Guu
✔ Progress in the story through QTE scenes and show your reflexes
✔ Reach the goal number during the math puzzles to unlock the next scenes
✔ Cute graphics in cell-shading reminding games like Okami

★ English and French subtitles
★ Extra random levels to earn more peppers
★ Find out hidden peppers and operators in the environments to help you
★ Unlock special bonuses

Chilie exists as a free-to-play for iOS and Android, with the possibility to buy peppers in an online store.

It is also available on Desura for 3.99€, which is a good way to support the work of the solo developer, Yves (Beckoning Cat).

Thank you Mayson, we totally understand. It's a good think to know that you liked the visual style.

This is really a tough decision for me. On one hand I can see that a lot of heart and thought went into this. The artstyle is clear defined and good looking. Sound design seems to be appropriate. Animations are fluid. The story is fun and a welcome diversion to the usual 'Save the world' junk we get fed in video games.

But and that is a really big BUT: The gameplay is solely based on QTEs and math puzzles, two things I would never ever want to see in a video game of any sort.

So there is this dedication and production around the game which is superb, but the core gameplay is something I cannot accept.
I will vote yes for the game to support your development, but I doubt I would ever purchase it. Good luck.
