Smugglers 5: Invasion Coming to Steam and GOG Oct 16th‏
Description
Release date: TBA - 2015
'It’s basically Elite… but turn-based. [...]' - Rockpapershotgun.com for Smugglers 4

Smugglers 5: Invasion starts where the original game ended. After years of civil war, the Federation finally emerged victorious, crushing all rebellion. The galaxy looked forward to a period of peace, a chance to repair the damage of a long and bitter war.

Then came the Jalkath, a new alien race looking much like the tigers of Old Earth. Their attacks were swift and brutal and they subjugated entire systems before the Federation even knew what was happening.

To the humans, they looked much like the tigers of Old Earth, and they soon proved themselves to be every bit as cunning and dangerous. The newcomers were swift and brutal in their assault, deploying terrifying weapons and subjugating entire systems before their victims even knew what was happening. The Federation has rallied a defence against the invaders, and now both sides struggle for dominance.

War has returned to the galaxy. For the right kind of captain, it’s a whole new chance for fame and fortune. Will you fight for the survival of your race? Trade and smuggle goods to make your fortune? Or play both sides against each other for your own profit?

"Smugglers 5 is an impressive and exceedingly addictive game." - darkzero.co.uk (Smugglers 5 - Original game)

"It’s a game full of freedom of choice, allowing the player to make their way through the framework it provides in just about whatever manner they please." - incgamers.com (Smugglers 5 - Original game)

Top features of this stand-alone expansion:

This is going to be an enhanced 2nd edition of Smugglers 5: Invasion featuring several additional new major updates, which are still to be announced.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

Is this a new release?

Smugglers 5: Invasion is a standalone expansion and is based on Smugglers 5: Secession.

You can download a complete list of changes since Smugglers 4 (including what´s new in the expansion) here: http://nbsd.fileburst.com/Smugglers5Changes.txt

This is going to be an enhanced 2nd edition of Smugglers 5: Invasion featuring several new major updates.

Where can I buy this game?

Until the game is released on Steam, you can buy it directly from our website at: http://www.nielsbauergames.com

Do I have to buy the game again after the beta / if it comes out?

No, of course not. When the betatest is finished you get a free update to the released version.

The game looks like Smugglers 4 and Smugglers 5: Secession - What´s new?

We have added tons of new content. You can download a complete list of changes since Smugglers 4 here: http://nbsd.fileburst.com/Smugglers5Changes.txt

Running the tutorial might not give you a full impression of the changes (although you could e.g. test the planet storylines and how they change). It is recommended to watch the YouTube trailer and read the changes list in order to get an idea of what´s new.

Smugglers 5: Secession plays in the timeline of the civil war between the Federation, Outer Rim Alliance, Coalition and Syndicate.

Smugglers 5: Invasion (stand-alone expansion) plays in the timeline after the civil war and features the Federation and the Jalkath Empire (tiger-like aliens).

To experience both timelines and the different factions you should play both games. If you just own the expansion, you miss out the civil war content, especially the Outer Rim Alliance, the Coalition and the Syndicate.

Is the game resolution 800x600? Why is there a black border on the side? Why isn´t the game fullscreen?

The game runs in fullscreen mode in the resolution your PC runs at. There is a black background picture with stars. The main screen of the game is not supposed to fill your screen in order to give you the possibility to put the trading or mission information screen to the side of the main screen. There is an option in the game to change the resolution of your PC in case you want a larger main screen.

In Smugglers 5: Invasion the native resolution of the two main screens in the game (travel and combat) has been increased. This makes it more convenient for high resolution displays.

What´s included? Is the game DRM-free?

• A DRM-free electronic copy of the game (instant download)
• A 87-page manual as a .pdf file
• Free patches and updates to the final version (we will keep improving the game after the release)
• For additional $4.95 you can get the previous Smugglers titles 1, 2, 3 and 4 (normal price $14.95).

Due to the success of Smugglers 5: Secession we have been allowed to bypass Greenlight. We're excited to announce that the stand alone expansion Smugglers 5: Invasion is now 100% locked in for Oct 16th on Steam and GOG.com. If you do not want to wait, you can buy the early access version today at www.nielsbauergames.com and get a Steam key after the release. Thanks for everyone who voted!
